Why do people say that Cotto was drained against Pac?

He showed no signs of slowing down. He was throwing hard, but Pac was absorbing the shots.

This is the fight that started all the PED talk because Pac was walking through Cotto's hard shots, that he would occasionally land.

If Cotto was gassing heavy, you might have a case, but Pac just gave him an old fashioned ass whuppin.

    Styles make fights.

That's why Cotto had a competitive fight against Mayweather, but fought to survive against Pac.

That's why Mayweather easily beat Marquez, but Marquez gave Pac the fight of his life.

    It's styles.

So, why do people take credit away from Pac's victories? Mayweather is clearly a great fighter, one of the best of all time, but why do people feel the need to dimish Pacquaio's resume?

    They're just different fighters.

I will say, Pac must punch hard as a mother ****er because Mosley was eating Alvarez shots all night, but he was running for his life against Pac.

I don't think Mayweather has anything left to prove. There is no doubt in my mind that he's one of the best of all time, and that goes for Pac too, but I still want to see them fight.

Anyway, that was a great fight. It turned out the way I thought it would with Cotto making it competitive and busting up Floyd to a certain extent, but then fading at about round 9 when I noticed his shots had nothing left on them.

Floyd really needs to be credited for his conditioning.

Just think, he was moving to 154 because he didn't feel comfortable anymore, then he was offered the biggest purse of his career but at 145, what do you think?

    But where is the indication?

I mean, isn't that a dumbass argument if there is no indication?

    If you're drained, you fade.

He didn't fade. He just got his ass whupped.

Man, people need to give Pac credit. He absorbed some hard shots from Cotto.

The shots Cotto was throwin, weren't the shots of a drained fighter.

    That's all speculation.

I give Pac credit for the win,he whoops Cotto even without the catchweight imo. But it can't be ignored that he wasn't fighting at his best weight for his belt, that's my issue with it,If you going for a guys belt you should meet him at his weight. Perhaps at 147 or 154 we would of seen a more competitive fight, I still think pac would win either way.

Probably because Pac felt it was necessary to "even out" the fight by taking away Cotto's only advantage (size)

Should Cotto have asked Pac to wear heavier gloves to even out the fight and take away Pac's speed? See how lame that sounds?

Cotto fought Clottey weighing 146 just a few months back, but curiously not a mention of weight drain to be heard from anyone. :think

Also, does Cotto moving to 154 really mean he is a 154 pound fighter? If so, why did he want a catchweight of 150 against Margarito? :think

    And...

PC: Was coming down to 145 tougher than you thought it would be since you hadn’t weighed 145 or less since 2006?

MC: I felt really good at that weight. It wasn’t a problem for me.

btw, Almost every fighter in boxing 'drains themselves' a little bit to make weight. Most fighters fight well below there natural weight. This is typical in boxing. Pacquiao is one of those few exceptions. Its only a problem when your severely draining yourself to the point that its impacting your health.

Cotto said he felt great at that weight. Who's word am I gonna take on it, him or some guy on the internet.

Cotto weighed 146 in his previous fight before Pacquiao, where he weighed in at 145. Thats a 1 pound difference , and either way he came into the the ring the bigger man. Pacquiao beat him fair and square.

Cotto: "Pacquiao is the best fighter I ever fought." Cotto didn't make any excuses, stop making them for him.

No good answers. I don't understand why people have to brush Pacquaio's accomplishments under the table, just to make him look bad.

Why exactly don't people want to see Mayweather vs Pacquaio?

Cottto came in at 146 against clottey so I dont buy the argument that he was drained. Lost to a better fighter. Matched up well with Mayweather. Styles make fights

What do you think??? If a guy is already having problems making 147 pounds, having to make 145 pounds can be very difficult. It's also a psychological thing. I'm sure there was some outlandish penalty placed on Cotto for coming in over the limit. I am almost certain that Miguel Cotto was thinking about the weight during training camp. He wasn't 100% focused on proper preparing for the task at hand. Let's also keep in mind that Manny Pacquiao has a very saavy trainer. He knows what to look for in fighters and he saw like everyone else saw that the loss to Antonio Margarito had seriously affected Cotto's confidence as well as his mental makeup. He was obviously fighting within himself during the Clottey fight. He was shaking the demons from his mind while he was wiping the blood from his eye. They knew what they were doing. They didn't catch him when he was riding a wave of victories. They caught him when he was mentally broken.

There are a number of reasons that I completely discredit Manny Pacquiao for his victory over Miguel Cotto. For starters, I truly believe that Manny Pacquiao was using HGH/Insulin, EPO, and Testoserone. I've done my research on these PEDs. I went to the USADA's website and I did extensive research on their list of banned substances. I looked at side effects and tell tale signals of one who is using and I feel as if Manny Pacquiao fits the criteria. I feel as if Manny would not have been able to submit clean samples for the USADA so soon after his fight with Cotto. He would have been getting tested very quickly for a March 13th date with Pretty Boy 'I just got my face busted up' Floyd, and there was no way in HELL he would've passed. The next reason is like I said earlier. Cotto was mentally broken. His fighting spirit had suffered a tremendous shock when he surrendered to Margarito and his plaster wraps. Every fighter is different. Cotto's metabolism was slowing down already prompting him to move up in weight. Forcing him down to 145 killed him, period.

After last Saturday's fight, Manny's victory over Miguel Cotto is tainted and it is voided in my eyes. If he wants me to believe him, he needs to fight Miguel Cotto now. Allow him to weigh 150. You guys claim that 2 pounds doesn't make a difference. Tell that to Pacquiao and see what he says. It doesn't matter??? A couple of pounds doesn't make a difference??? Prove it and face Miguel Cotto at 150. Floyd fought him for his title at 154. The way that you are supposed to win a champioship. I'd be calling for Manny to give Cotto a shot at redemption. Face him now that his confidence has been restored and he just took the best fighter in the world to his limits. Pacquiao, give Cotto the benefit of weighing in in comfort and destroy him the way you did in 2009 and I will respect that victory. Until then, Pacquiao can eat a fat dick.

Bla bla bla gossip gossip gossip, makin **** up, snitchin on people, that guy at work that tells on mother ****ers and gossips...bla bla.

    What bull**** is this?

You got a lot of hatred stored up towards Pacquaio.

Look, ain't nobody wanna see Pacquaio dish out another ass whuppin to Cotto.

All that means is 154 lbs is gonna hit the deck instead of what he was last time.

Cotto didn't gas. He just got whupped.

I saw the fight. Based on the fight, he didn't show any signs of being drained.

Mayweather said it. His fans spread it. Pretty much render it bull****.

Honestly, if the Mayweather's had never existed you wouldn't be hearing about all this crap about catchweights (did fans cry about them in SRL's day when he was fighting 8lbs under the limit 3 consecutive fights for titles?.. or when Chavez fought whitaker at 145?.. Hell, no-one cried when DLH made Hopkins fight at 158 after fighting Sturm at 160!..because it lessened the chances DLH would be overwhelmed against an elite fighter at a weight he was maxxed out in, that's what they're for)

Mayweather is one of the greatest talents ever, but some of the dispicable things he and his family had done and said in the last few years have made it horrible to be a fan of the sport
