The commentators brought up how May 5th brought together all the boxing fanbases: Black Americans, Mexicans, and Ricans. One commentator mentioned filipinos are missing. Just how big is their fanbase? They don't have no boxing history in America like Blacks and Mexicans do. You don't see much in boxing gyms either.

Big on days when pac man fights. Not big enough to make any money off of them because they only follow pacman.

In the u.s., tiny. In the phillipines, huge.

As big as Manny wants them to be. Once he retires the fanbase will probably drop 60%.

Huge, you just need to look at the number of shows they put on the emerging talent from the country to see it.

Huge, with their historic greatness. Ask any flip and they will straight school your ass on the boxing history of the last 5 years.

I'm not sure where they are basing their numbers. As far as I can remember, big fights were cause for a big party among my Filipino relatives when I was young here in Los Angeles. There were always boxing parties for SRL, Hearns, Tyson, Hagler, etc.

In the Philippines, they even have boxing shows including one that is named exacty like Mexico's Golpe a Golpe: Blow By Blow.

I would say boxing is 2nd most watched sport in the Philippines (pre Pacquiao) behind basketball.

All the big PPV fights were shown in the Philippines for free, except they had 15 minutes of commercials in between each round to show all the sponsors that actually paid for the fight to be telecast.

For a small non-boxing fan nation, it blows the mind to think they can put 2 fighters in the Top 5 P4P rankings. :huh
