Floyd would have had problems with Margarito

  1. did cotto ever really look like margs punches were doing anything to him in the 2nd fight? i watched it....i didnt think margs punches were doing much to cotto......cotto had some marks under his eyes....but nothing to write home about.....and margs would not hit floyd nearly as much as he hit cotto in the rematch.......so i dont see how margs is going to do anything to floyd

Did you see his fights vs Castillo? How about Corley? Augustas? Sosa?

Floyd has been in fights before you know.

Yeah, even as early as his second fight against Sanders he was being tested by fighters who charged at him and hung in as though as they could. He's pretty used to dealing with that by now methinks.

BTW, what did you think of the fight on Saturday, RM?

I've been saying for years that the Margarito pre-Pacquiao, because of styles was Mayweather's biggest threat.

Margarito is a ****ing freight train. He just keeps coming.

Cotto had some sucess against Mayweather when he went on the attack and took Mayweather to the ropes.
The difference is Margarito can do it all night and non-stop, and he has a beard to laugh off Mayweather's incoming.

I've said all along, to beat Mayweather you have to keep coming providing pressure all the way throught and have the chin to be able to stay inside and pay the price of the accurate connect Mayweather is going to bounce off of you.

Because of his size, chin, and non stop punching style, Margarito would have put Mayweather through hell.

There is a reason why Mayweather turned down an 8 million dollar offer to fight Margarito when it would have been his biggest payday to date.

Margarito's eye closed pretty early in the fight, and he did'nt land nearly as much to either Cotto's head or body that he did in the first fight.

Get off of this that Margarito's punches were'nt hurting Cotto because they were. The difference is that Margarito was landing less the 2nd time around.
Cotto was looking tired and Margarito was hollering and screaming wheeeeeewwwwwww, right after the round the doctor stopped the fight.

The wheeeeewwwww taunts from Margarito to Cotto was the feeling he was coming on and Cotto was tired and wilting. Right then the doctor says "no more." :verysad
Just would have been great to have seen the fight lasts to its conclusion without any interference.
We all know history is'nt on Cotto's side and he wilts the last couple of rounds of a fight.

  10. i respect your opinion....

and i agree that his size, chin, and non stop punching are a nightmare for most....but floyd isnt most....floyd is too skilled...and margarito doesnt have any.....sure floyds punches arent as strong as cottos....but cotto was able to tag margarito at will both fights.....floyds feet and overall defensive prowess would be too much for margarito.....floyd could have made this one a real snoozer....floyd could clinch when he had to.....and run when he had too....all the while hed be denting up margs face....floyd could probably pull off 6 punch combos on margarito at will and land every punch

If you want to see Mayweather/Margarito watch Mayweather/Baldomir or Mayweather/Corrales

  12. listen....the eye was an issue going into the fight...a major issue....so tony should have known it was going to be looked at if it became an issue....you want to keep fighting? then at some point you should have stopped it from being hit so ****in much.......

i watched the fight....i saw tony complain and disappointed he wasnt allowed to continue...my honest gut feeling was that nothing different was going to happen in the last 3 rounds than what we saw earlier in the fight

margarito was landing less...because cotto decided to use a clinch when he had to....something cotto has always been reluctant to do....we knew that he should have used the clinch in the first fight....and we saw shane dismantle margs using it......cotto mixed in clinches with some back pedaling instead of just back pedaling

margarito "whheeewwwwing" doesnt mean ****....margarito is one of those guys that is just going to do that no matter what because of his machismo and the bad blood between him and cotto.....he wasnt hurting cotto....and the hbo crew made note that his punches werent doing the same damage.....margs had what he and his people called their "best round" before the stoppage...it was a load of ****.....it was false confidence from margs....the fight was in the bag and cotto was in cruise control

Floyd went on holiday for two years to avoid the question. Now that Marg is washed up Floyd would stop him in 07 ????

Margo all wrong for Floyd in 07. All wrong.

True... but when you cherry pick every opponent your are not expected to struggle. yet he did.

Floyd hand picked Cotto thniking he was damaged goods and that there would be 0 chance of getting beat. He picked wrong. Hes lucky Cotto is not a KO puncher.

cotto got KO's early in his career. mostly as a body puncher and cumlative damage rather than KO power.
