And THAT is why Pacquiao wouldn't fight Cotto at 154.

I shouldn't have even jumped into this thread since I am going to bed, look forward to possibly debating this with you down the road.

When are people gonna realize that PAC is not even a legitimate 147lb fighter? Then people are whining about him not fighting COTTO at 154. First, there's really no need for a rematch since he destroyed him 10rds to 1 before stopping him.

Can you guys name a welterweight in the history of this sport that doesn't go over 150lbs on fight night? SMH on the OP!

Cotto had no problem with the weight. He was 146 in his last fight before that against Clottey. He even said he was in the best shape of his life.

He made weight no problem. He was doing well up to the 4th when he got hit. Even the commentators were saying how well Cotto was doing.

Speed with power kills. You go toe to toe with Pacquiao and you will lose, he has power in his short punches. Just think about it, he already has superior speed but on top of that he has knockout power in his short punches.

Of course Cotto said he was in the best shape, he was the original Arum puppet even before your boy Pac was.

Soon as he got out of the contract he spilled the beans on how badly it harmed his body preparing for the fight.

:rofl Cotto faced Marg at 151 and so did Pac.....we saw the difference in the outcomes. Cotto looked just as strong at welter as he did at Jr middle. The difference is Miguel had an easier time with Floyds style than Pacs. Boxing 101..:smoke

He was just going along with Mayweather to hype the fight.

Or maybe having to cut more weight than he'd ever had to since fighting at welter had ill affect? :huh

Cotto will never fight Pac at 150, he turned down for that reason.

I mean....the fight was 2 yrs ago and immediately before and after the fight with Pac, Cotto made no excuses about feeling like a corpse. Matter of fact miguel was more than confident if putting Pac on the canvas and ending the fight well before the final bell.

Miguel didn't look drained at 145 back in 2010 vs how he looked in 2012 at 154. The fact that months earlier Cotto made 146 easily in his fight with josh only solidifies that Cotto was enjoying the fact that he would easily make weight and by fight time he would be holding a big weight advantage over the obviously smaller Pac.

No, he looked in really good shape in the weigh-in and specially during the fight.

He got clipped with a short uppercut because he decided to exchange. That's what did him in. He looked good before that, landing some solid jabs. But Pacquiao figured him out and he couldn't deal with the speed.

Cotto would whoop Pac at 154 and Pac knows it. Margarito scared him back down where he could bring up lightweights and junior welters with no power to fight instead

Cotto's defense is still **** and he is still a very simple fighter stylistically. Pac would beat him on activity and due to this speed at 154, it would be interesting to see how Manny stood up to his shots though.
