He does well with and spars regularly with 150+ fighters. His walking around weight is 152. He is still growing and he carries his power at those weights. I see no reason why he can not beat and compete with anyone anywhere between those weights and beyond.
:rofl Keep telling your self that he can beat only guys that just stand in front of him and brawl, if he would go up to 147 there is at least 10 fighters that would beat him easy without him winning a round, at 140 JMM will beat him with no trouble at all!!!
No, I didn't. :-( I will tell you the same thing we told Brandon. He looked terrible and he gave that fight away. Not that I think Abril deserved to win because I thought he fought a boring, dirty, and safe to survive type fight but the expectations of Brandon were so high going into this fight that he let himself and his fans down. Brandon agrees. He knows he desrved to lose this fight and that he was giving a gift. He also knows he can do better. He just lost focus and was not into this fight emotionally. He took it to get paid and he was still stinging about Gamboa backing out. That is something he learned from and has vowed never to do it again. Brandon is a very proud man. Missing weight twice really took the wind out of his sails. He was depressed before and after this fight. He felt he let everyone down and he did. He has good support around him so he will be back bigger and better.
Win or lose he will be a force at those weights. There will be no easy fights for any of his opponents.
I think One of Rios main advantages at light weight was his size and strength, and now that he will be fighting guys roughly the same size as him he would struggle a lot more in fights now. Same thing with Hatton at 147 lbs he was still a good fighter but he didn't have the size advantage anymore so he found it harder to fight the same way he did at 140 lbs.
atsch He has no skill, he is not force when top fighters would beat him easy, if you did not see in Abril fight how unskilled he is YDKSAB, specially at 147, he is easy fight for Khan, Bradley, Devon Alexander, Ortiz etc not to mention Pac and Floyd...only fight i would like to see him in is against Maidana and i think even Maidana beats him! Abril beat him easy and you say others better than Abril will not lol
Size advantage how? He starves and dehydrates himself to get down to 135. He then eats and rehydrates to 147 and then fights. How is that an advantage? I have often wondered about people who see this as a 'weight" advantage. I wonder if they have ever competed in a sport where one had to make weight. I boxed and wrestled both. I was a tall 135 pounds when I started at 13. By fifteen I was a taller 155 pounds. I still wrestled and boxed at 135. Trust me I weighed close to 150 at bell time but it was not an advantage. There were times when I fasted nearly a week drinking only water. It was like a living death. I was so glad when I moved up to 160 and was able to weigh in at my normal weight of 155.
