Ive now seen the fight 3 times, and cant possibly see any way to give Cotto more than 2 rounds, and the 6th is more even than a Cotto round IMO.
Catching punches on shoulders and elbows, is good defence.
Workrate and aggression scores NOTHING, if the punches dont hit a scoring target.
Mayweather all day every day 10-2, at worst.
Anyone scoring this fight 115-113 like that douche Greg Leon, DKSAB!

Just because one fighter out lands another fighter it doesn't mean they automatically win the round! :patsch

Mosley-DLH 2 anyone? One guy landed the harder shots (Mosley).. the other guy landed more shots (DLH) :hat

8-3-1 even is a very fair score imo.

I agree. Can you point out where I said that wasn't the case?

I agree also. Although I thought Hoya won that fight, Mosley did land the harder shots. I'm not sure what that has to do with Mayweather vs. Cotto though. Mayweather landed more shots and the more effective shots.

3 and 5 are the only swing rounds. One of the things not talked about much is that Mayweather out worked Cotto. Taking away Cotto's ability to win rds by pressure and workrate even if not cleanly landed. Only round Mayweather failed to do so was the 8th.

So I have a question, Isn't the norm to give the champion the even rounds? it's still a clear Mayweather victory. But the score undermines Cottos performance.

No, that's not the norm at all. Furthermore, what constitutes an even round? The only way you should be scoring a round even is if one guy clearly wins and gets a point deducted. There is no bonus points for being the champion. That's not in any scoring guidelines.

Cotto(e)'s most dominant round was the 6th. I don't know how anyone could not have given that one to him, he earned it.

I thought the 6th was close. I actually thought the 8th was his best round.

Compubox agrees with your point of view this time around too.

Cotto landed 8 to Mayweather's 9 in the sixth.

Cotto landed 20 to Mayweather's 13 in the eighth.

wasn't 8th the one where Floyd landed some great bodyshots in the 1st minute then took his foot off the pedal? Floyd used that round to get his energy back. He came out back to boxing and using his legs in 9-12.

I honestly can't see no more than 3 rounds for Cotto. That is why I have no problem with people giving Cotto 2 rounds.
