Nazim said that during the Mosley fight.

If there were 2 fighters you could say have no similarities whatsoever it would Ali and Mayweather. But in this fight, Mayweather reminded me alot of a past prime Ali. Laying on the ropes for periods of the fight conserving energy, but then taking the fight to the middle of the ring, dancing with his hands down, then planting his feet and launching blistering combinations. I believe this is the Mayweather we will see from now on. Its a common misconception that his legs are gone. They are not, for the first 4 rounds and the last 3 rounds, Mayweather had excellent spring in his legs and was using them to dodge alot of Cotto's assaults. But he can only do this for stretches of a time, the rest of the time he'll be be either on the inside or against he ropes fighting and conserving energy.

I'll give a complete round by round break down when the replay comes out so I can take an accurate picture of the fight not on some grainy recorded stream online.

You see how easy it is for Mayweather to use movement and how hard it is for Cotto to keep Mayweather on the ropes when Mayweather decided to use continual movement. If Cotto forced Mayweather to infighting why couldn't Cotto force Mayweather to do so in th 12th rd? He had plenty of opportunities.

His legs aren't "Gone" but they are not the same. Haven't been for a while.

I've said many times before I compare him to a post-exile Ali who admitted his legs weren't the same. He didn't have the stamina anymore to dance for the full fight like he did pre-exile...but yes, could do it at stretches at a time. He Didn't have the speed like before either. Not quite.
However, it was obvious his legs were still strong.

Now if a fighter loses his strength in his legs and starts to look shaky from the start...yeah...then they are gone.

Speed/Agility/Stamina is a youth attribute. It's bound to decline. Strength however lasts a lot longer.

As far as the other stamina/conditioning...even that will decline with age. Just a matter of how much and how fast. But all decline.

I agree, but lemme play devil's advocate and say that Cotto's lack of conditioning and usual fading down the stretch amplified Floyd's conditioning.

He had to take the middle rounds off because of his obviously broken nose was preventing breathing, and he probably felt he needed to conserve energy because Cotto didn't slow down like in the past, he definitely showed he could have boxed the **** out of Cotto if he chose

Norton beat Ali officially once(IMO, he won all 3 fights) Floyd won at least 9 rounds against Cotto.

I didnt even read your whole thing but its funny you mentioned ali because i said the same thing to one of my buddies that i train with who didnt see the fight.. I told him "its weird but I felt like i was watching ali at times...especially in the twelth." Not saying he is the next ali or no **** like that but there were moments where i felt like i was seeing ali...I let it go thinking maybe i was tripping but i guess not.

Agreed, It's the main reason. If he could've sustained what he did in the 8th round for a couple more rounds afterward...he could've pulled it out. But he never was that kind of fighter. But you also gotta give Floyd credit for his conditioning...that's part of the game. Still, I've always said that if fights were 10 rounders Cotto would be a bonafide ATG

Not round 3.. and 5 could have gone either way.

If your referring to the judges scorecards, ya your right. Cotto would have probably needed to sweep 9-12 , but he showed in round 8 he was capable of doing it. He just ran out of gas. He probably would of gotten robbed anyway but he would have won in the eyes of the fans.

****ing haters talking about Cotto(e) losing his stamina as the reason Mayweather one the fight. You guys are clear like plastic. It's pathetic sometimes, really.
