In all Mayweather's close fights the opponents brought forth strong defenses against Mayweather's attacks. Pac would have to bring the same type of defensive awareness and focus in order to have the success he needed to win.

You do realize that even in the 6th to 8th rounds, even though that was the apex of Cotto's activity, he was still getting hit with hard counters, right?

I know you've never boxed, but if you add expending energy, plus being hit, it equals, gassing out.

Cotto didn't gas out after the 8th round against Margarito, and he was moving way more in that fight than this one.

Use logic. He missed a TON of shots against Mayweather, he had to use his body to push against a fairly strong Floyd. He also had to throw hundreds of punches just to get a couple through. There aren't many fighters on the planet that can deal with those variables and be fresh enough to catch Mayweather late in the fight, when he actually starts to move on you.

And before you go and mention your idol, that I'm sure you have a shrine of in your studio apartment. Think about this. Pacquiao threw less punches against Marquez than Mayweather threw in this fight with Cotto(e) and Manny looked frustrated and tired at the end of that bout. Getting countered ****s you up and messes with your rhythm and stamina.

I had it 116-112 for Floyd. He won it clearly. But Cotto gassed in the 9th round, after having his best round of the fight. The momentum was on his side and he slowed down. FLoyd never dominated him, even when he was tired. I saw Cotto's lack of stamina losing him the fight. The championship rounds were there for the taking.

Not to sway away from the point of the thread but Ali definitely won the 2nd Norton fight... maybe you watched the 1st fight twice & then the 3rd fight :think

Of course you don't want to bring up that fight. But it was his last fight and he happened to not be fighting a punching bag in it. So it's apt. Sorry if you want to avoid the subject.

    you keep contradicting yourself man

yes we know, floyd never dominated him

you honestly think that floyd wouldn't have won them final rounds if cotto had a bit more stamina, please take me to a point in floyds career (ignore castillo injury fight) where floyd has ever lost championship rounds? floyd stepped it up man, granted there was a drop in cottos energy but you cannot simply ignore what floyd did.

We've already seen your scorecard. You gave Cotto(e) rounds where he clearly didn't win. You're clear like glass....

I like how you want to conveniantly ignore the first Castillo fight. This fight was very reminiscent of that. The difference is Castillo had enough to keep fighting through 12 rounds. I didn't see Floyd step up anything after round 8. What I did see a complete drop in activity from Cotto and he looked spent. That doesn't mean he would have necessarily won, but I saw that as the biggest factor in him losing those rounds.
