I gave Cotto 6,7,8 round 7 was an even round but Cotto was busier & more effective in my eyes

Floyd won easy 9 of the 12 rounds

I thought Cotto won round 1. 6 and 8 were his rounds and well that'd be it. You could see him in the last part of the fight feeling good. At the end of the rounds he kind of strutted back to the corner. He thought he won...

Gave Cotto the 3rd, 6th, and 8th. I actually thought the 9th round was tougher to score than the 5th, and I called it even for a score of 117-112.

In this case, the judges scorecards follow the general consensus of how the fight went. And that was that Cotto won two rounds clean...And maybe did enough to swing a round or two in addition to that....but that he really didn't come that close to winning the fight.

Re-watched the first 4 rounds in Gander's thread yesterday and gave all 4 to Floyd.. Re-watching the entire fight tomorrow morning, will give a RBR scorecard after that.

Not talking about a bonus point, that would be ridiculous. As I understood it, the challenger had to win the round convingcinly, which May did mostly, but if a round is too close to decide defiitively, than it's awarded to the champion, as it's understood the challenger did not do enough to win it. I understood it as an unwritten rule. Not arguing, just clarifying.

Nah, that's just what people tell casual fans so when the Champ gets awarded a BS decision casual fans agree it was right. So then the mass majority believes it's right. Then it happens again..

edit: I thought it was true when I first got into boxing.. After talking to a few people I quickly learned it's NOT the case. And most boxing fans get upset when they hear that being spread.

How close the scorecards are and how competitive the fight is are two different things. Cotto fought hard and was competitive, but he didn't win many rounds.
