I can understand that point of view and agree to an extent.

This is not wrong. This is how to market a fight properly. First, Showtime's goal is to present Ward-Bute. That's why they signed Bute near the end of the super 6. Ward plays the hard to get and so far doesn't want to fight Bute. Showtime would be stupid to say yes to Ward, especially because they have the right to equal any offer HBO would make to him.

Ward-Bute, Pascal-Dawson and then you have a real mega fight in the making.

Serious fans know Ward has to face Bute before being crowned the SMW king.

IB, You're a good poster, but I disagree big time. Why should Showtime give two half-assed promoters 5million to stage a fight in the middle of nowhere. These promoters don't do their jobs. This **** has to stop somewhere and we as fans should be grateful that Showtime is trying to put a stop to this.

I wanted to see the fight, calm down. I'm a big supporter of Ward.

he won the crown by winning the tournament. Bute is just the number 1 contender for the crowd.

He won a tournament leaving the number 2 on the side line. Until he faces him, questions remain about Ward being the real champ.

That, right there. Ward/Bute will do really big numbers (for Sho) and Dawson/Pascal II should do well. Then, after the two Americans win (they will both be favored) we have a megafight. If either American loses, we have big fights available through rematches.

number one what? Contender right? Because nothing Bute has done makes him number 1 in the division overall.

Steve Kim, Doug Fischer, and some others. Very smart by Showtime. They are going to get an action-packed fight and close to sell-out in Ortiz vs Berto with a significant less license fee. That should be the gold standard. Why should Showtime pay more $ than what a fighter is worth?

Because these two "half assed" promoters have two of the best talents in boxing, and are willing to pit them against each other...I don't give a **** how many people are there, or how many people watch, I give a **** about seeing two top fighters battle to see who the best is.

That's exactly what the sentiment is. You and a few other hardcore boxing fans, not a majority of fight fans. Are you going to pay $ for tickets to the fight? You'll probably watching on HBO or a live stream. Until Dawson can sell tickets, this fight shouldn't happen. I'm willing to bet HBO picks it up though.
