I don't think that this is a one off. I would be astounded if steroids that had been taken in October last year was still in his system in April, but had disappeared in early May
PM yourself mate. http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/i...peterson-admitted-taking-testosterone-pellets
Exactly It seems like they spoke without thinking to try and make it clear that Lamont hadn't been using in prep for this fight, but cast a huge shadow over the previous fight in the process. No way do some steroids he took in December show up in a drugs test in March. You got to be shitting me.
As I understand it the Washington Commission are the only people with the power to change the result to a No Contest, but the WBA and IBF can do whatever the **** they want in regards the titles. I think the precedent would be that if the first fight is deemed a NC then the titles revert back to Khan, as he hasn't "lost" them. If the result stands (a travesty IMO) then I'd expect Lamont to be stripped and the titles to become vacant. Although knowing the WBA they would probably give the titles to Khan, declare him the WBA VADA-compliant super champion, and create a title of WBA Super duper Juicing Champion to Peterson.
I'm not a big fan of the way Amir handles things, but I must admit he has been royally done over here. If he'd have won that fight, he'd have vacated his titles and moved up, probably having his first fight at WW now. As it stands, he was made to look like a right whiny *****, whilst people (myself included) talked about how Peterson had handled the whole thing with dignity etc.
Agreed. He can act like a spoilt child, especially in the wake of the 1st Peterson fight, but even with that in mind the first fight should be declared a NC and the titles given back to Khan. No doubt Khan will come out with something in the wake of this to make me dislike him oncemore, but fair is fair.
:deal Forget the referee, hatman etc. He did act like a whiny ***** over those things but at the end of the day he's lost his titles to a cheat and the fight could have gone either way anyway. Khan is clearly the superior fighter without PEDs.
couldn't agree more, especially with the last bit. But yea, having taken the stuff before the first fight, the decision can not be allowed to stand.
The samples that tested positive were taken on the 19/3, 2 months before the fight date. My guess was that his team assumed the tests would be in the build up to the fight, they'd take the drugs early on and stop as the fight night approached. If he's been using the transdermal form (which is what's being said on news websites) the clearance is short compared to a steroid like nandrolone. The real question is, if both A and B samples were taken on March 19th, why has it taken until now for everyone to find out about it? I can't see the clinical lab side of things taking longer than a day. Even with all the politics involved, the whole process shouldn't take longer than a week or two. Fans who've bought tickets and booked flights in that time have been royally screwed...
