Name one fighter with a competant inside game that Ward has fought.

    Kessler. No inside game

    Froch. No inside game

    Abraham. No inside game

    Green? ROFL

    Now Floyd

Hatton, only known for his inside game

Cotto, at his best when he can press and hit the body

And the dirth of Mexican's Floyd has fought.

Cant compare in my eyes. If Ward was to fight someone with a competant inside game, then you could compare.

Andre has ONLY fought people bigger than him because he's comparatively short in the division. The only fighter he fought that was about the same size was Abraham.

That does favor his inside game.

I'm going to need to see how Ward handles Bute's inside stuff before I make an accurate assessment on that.

Their level of competition is entirely different.

But Ward has looked flawless on the inside, whereas Floyd has shown signs of weakness on the inside.
Gotta ride with Ward, I just think Ward is the most complete boxer in the game today.

Froch was okay in the inside though no Hatton, Castillo, or even Cotto. Best guy he fought inside was Bika and even then he had a hard time. Opposition does play an important point in this debate but Ward still dominated very good fighters in Kessler & Froch and beat Bika wide. They def are not scrubs but it's clear Floyd has beaten much better, capable inside fighters. Better fighters in general too.

Good post, but the thread is interesting, because, resume aside, they both have exceptional and effective inside tool-sets.

Uhh Andre Ward is 6'1 and was a light heavyweight as an am. Not to mention he was a D1 level football player. I doubt anyone bar Abraham is as strong as Ward is in the division. He is not small. Medium sized at worst.

...cleverly leaving Sakio Bika out. Why?

Bika gave Ward fits, won 3 rounds (4 if you gave him R12) and landed 3 beautiful scorpion right hands in the last round.

Young Mayweather's inside game was just ridiculous when he was in lower weight classes around guys in own size

Ward. Ward is much stronger than Floyd(relative to his opponents).

So far, no matter who the opponent, Ward seems to always end up being the stronger(or appearing so). He ends up pushing his foe back.

With Floyd, he seems to be the one that ends up being pushed back.

Of course, the one that is able to move forward has better leverage to get his shots off.

Floyd, obviously. Ward looks good controlling the action on the inside, but has not been tested against opponents as good as Floyds resume. And Floyd keeps the action going close up, while Ward is content with using excessive holding. This makes Floyd far, far more entertaining to watch.
