I really like Dawson for his technical abilities but he is no dynamo. If he drains down to 168 this is the most likely outcome.
Exactly; and if Showtime rejected this fight isn't all cleared for HBO to take it since it has no competition?
they both have **** to prove Ward Bute Dawson rematch Pascal and face Cloud or Shumenov once they beat their weight class threats they can fight each other
I noticed HBO had him on the Mayweather/Cotto broadcast and instantly thought the same thing. They wouldn't give air time to another network's fighter if they didn't plan on bringing him on board.
This would be a solid fight but perhaps not one that we could expect a high amount of action in. Maybe that's the logic that Showtime is using by rejecting this fight. Though it would never happen for various reasons, this type of fight really ought to be featured as the co-main event on a PPV card of an even bigger fight, such as Floyd-Cotto; which would do wonders for getting each fighter some exposure with casual fans.
Showtime rejected this fight for the same reason it has rejected Bute-Froch: they think they would hit the jackpot on pay-per-view with a potentially exciting Ward-Bute as they have Bute under contract for another fight and they can match any offer given to Ward.
Sho expects profit after televising Super6 and Bute's fights; i don't know how else could they benefit from this fight
...last time there was a PPV on SHO (before Uncle Bob got mad at HBO last year) was like 5 years ago. They make money with the subscribers and they must please the customers to keep them. I guess they think some boxing fans will subscribe before the fight, too. Lots of ''pretty'' big fights aren't on PPV.
just saw an article on espn.com with HBO in talks to pick up the fight yeah Ward doing guest commentary during the Mayweather-Cotto PPV got me thinking. Pretty convenient how it all works out
