has he (mayweather promotion) ever promoted a fight, meaning organized the event and paid all the participants???
Keeping him accessible to the public, watching his every step, making sure he's in good standing. Essentially PR.
What Lance said. I watched some footage of Arum talking about helping make Pac president. I think after his son died in that accident it probably became a place to focus on as a diversion. Forget about all the who makes what off of Pac. I'm pretty sure Pac makes more than enough and is well promoted and these are his decisions. Be serious here. What other promoter could have done with Pac what Top Rank has done? People tell us he isn't THAT good and his opponents are hand picked, blah, blah, blah.... Well, guess what? That works. If Floyd becomes the mythical manager/promoter of Broener and Gamboa and puts them in the ring next year, guess what? One loses and has to reset. Not a bad thing for a true fan of the sport but too bad they only buy a small fraction of the tickets. And who is the number one guy claiming the zero is the most important thing in boxing? That's right. Floyd Mayweather.
Broener is a GBP fighter. Who knows what's up with Gamboa. I know he has a fight scheduled, but can't say if it will even happen. Sad thing, he probably woulda beaten Rios that night, taken his biggest purse ever, and be on to bigger and better. Now his ability to participate in a sanctioned fight will be in the air.
Well, I was basing my comments on the mythical **** made up for this thread. Gamboa would have been the smaller guy and fought the fight Rios is good at. Gamboa is pretty damned good but still has a few holes to be plugged which could be why Arum wasn't rushing him in the first place. I keep going back to Vic/Nonito. People kept saying how Vic had become a start while Arum was killing Nonitio's career. Well, given the long view, who will have had the better career at the end? Vic is already considered a washed up has been and Nonito is peaking and considered top P4P material. Guys on here like to spout off how most TR fighters are over rated. Guess what? As long as they are over paid they don't care. :deal
Well, as you know, Top Rank and especially Arum have become the devil here. It's funny how so many these guys pick sides and stick to them no matter what, no matter how obviously their criticisms apply to whom they like as well. I've never been a big Golden Boy fan, but I like his fighters. And if Mayweather got a license and signed Gamboa or Broener, I'd still be fans of them. It's that silliness that has caused me to pretty much give up on this site. it's all about fanboys and picking sides, or inventing a 'group' to escalate the mob mentality that's run amock. Pardon my rant. Good point about the Vic/Donaire situation. I am glad Donair's inactivity form a few years ago is done with. He should be in the ring at least 4 times a year IMHO.
Yeah because Arum has no problem working with Al Haymon and GBP. It should be easy as pie! Oh wait a minute.....
u get what u pay for!? ok. pac doesn't even know his current financial situation. he hired that firm to check out the books and arum demanded they be dismissed. now that same company is suing pac. let's not even get into the cash advances for pac that have been reported. politics doesn't pay like boxing. obama makes 400k a year and he's the leader of the free world. i seriously doubt manny being president of the PI is going to pay him anything significant. also...they off politicians over there like rival drug lords get offed in latin america. 8 division champ? that holds as much weight as leonard leonard winning the light heavyweight title at 165. try again.
i don't think anyone is denying that arum is the best at what he does...but the thing is...it's becoming transparent. making money and winning fights that are tilted in ur favor are fun for fans that don't know any better....but to the ones who see thru the bull****...it's gets old fast.
again, that's good for the promoter and fighter...and their pockets...but to the fans who know better...not so much. for the record...nonito hasn't really been impressive lately. his win over vasquez left a lot to be desired. and his win over the little guy was very disappointing. usually...when guys win fights...they don't make excuses.
This content is protected haymon negotiated and agreed with arum on 3 different occasion to have floyd fight pac only to have floyd back out.
Oh please. Pas is supposely some mastermind untouchable PED cheater who is highly overrated. Considering that is NOT the public perception of him, I'd say Arum is doing his job well.
