I don't think you can totally fault pac for the fight not happening in 2010. Remember, he was on a time schedule since the election in the Phils. was fast approaching and he was running for Congress. This was widely known at that time that he had to sign a contract with anybody, train and fight long before the start of the election period. So when Floyd rejected Pac's offer of 24 days or something and made no counter offer to it...so that was that. Both parties failed to come to an agreement. Unfortunately, one of them was under time constrained.

Over the weight penalties were put in place simply to protect Pac against inherently bigger opponents and was just a good business move. I'm sure he would still fight them even if Eric and Oscar would come a little bit overweight. But he did make sure that it would be financially worth while on his part of they did. Besides, it is a form of deterent against them actually coming overweight.

Just a point of clarification, Pac did not decline the random blood test. His only condition that it should not be made so close to the fight date. It weakens him, he says. So during the agreed date, they can perform the random blood test all they want. And just to emphasize, he also agreed to a random urine test up to the fight and blood test after the fight.

I understand, however, the point that the fighters must not be given the opportunity to cheat no matter how remote. So on this aspect, I partially blame Pac. But Floyd should also share the blame here since the demand for a blood test would have been palatable to Pac if Floyd did not insult and branded him as a cheat prior to the actual negotiation.

Had Oscar or Morales cheated weight?

I'm still waiting on the justification for those outlandish overweight penalties without any precedence from those fighters whatsover, and you being OK with it. But NOT ok with Floyd asking for OSDT when he had no precedence

    Hypocrisy.

The bolded makes no sense. How is he not declining random testing when he wants to control the testing window. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of random?

good post and your right...they agreed to the testing from the start...Roach is in a Dec 13th, 2009 interview saying they'd take any test...then Team pacroid finds out they can't have a cutoff and they back out...

AS AN ATHLETE, IN A POST MARK MCGUIRE ERA IN SPORTS, THERE IS 0 REASON WHY YOU SHOULD NOT TAKE A DRUG TEST..0 REASON..NOT "0 REASON BUT I NEED A CUTOFF..." JUST 0 REASON PERIOD.

Agreed. It was the BEST opportunity to make this fight happen. If it didn't then, it never will.

    ****ing sad state of affairs.

Do they have to? weighing above the contracted weight is like disagreeing from the contract and disagreement with the boxing commission.

WTF dude? 10M/lb above the contracted weight is a no biggie if Floyd seriously wanted to keep the contracted weight agreement.

I'm a fan of both (though I defend Pac more because frankly his side on this forum needs the help lol) but the instant Pac decided that 14 days was okay made the blow up of the first round of negotiations his fault.

Exactly. You can't wait a year and expect the same stipulations as the first round.

Mosley and Floyd did no cut offs, no problem. Why take a step backward in boxing when you just took a giant leap forward?

A blood test isn't random if its during an agreed date lol but just concerning 2010, and what the guy is posting about, hes completely right

All that cutoff date **** was just bull****. its a reason its called RANDOM testing.

To what the orginal poster is pertaining to he is right. They even had 50/50. That went away when Floyd went on to make a 20 mil guarantee in his Mosley fight and a 23 mil guarantee in his Ortiz fight. While Pac was still making 6-8 mil (just from official NSAC papers). Once Floyd seen he made double what Pac did that 50/50 **** went away.
