I think this is what happened to Peterson and what happens widely in sports- with athletes using testosterone out of camp- which isnt illegal- provided it is under certain levels. I think Peterson used it outside of official camp for strength and conditioning- and didnt taper down in time- and came in with high levels. Every athlete has an excuse these days for this ****. anyway i like Danas stance on this ****- but he s gotta be the most hypocritical guy in sports- provided every athlete in his sport is on it- maybe not just before a fight- but surely in the offseason to build muscle mass. the guys in his sport are stupidly jacked.

Normal. They found traces of "synthetic" carbon in his testosterone metabolites.

Peterson didn't have a high count, they found synthetic testosterone in his body. If they had done OSDT where they test for epitestosterone to testosterone then do a second check if it's over a 4:1 ratio Peterson would have gotten away with it.

WADA does IRMS. The athletic comissions don't.
(Edit for anyone else: meaning that olympis style testing (OSDT, whatever it may actually mean) could have detected steroids in Peterson)

Most of the substances on the state athletic commissions' banned list are perfectly legal over the counter or with a prescription and there are legit medical uses for most of them, but that doesn't change the fact that boxers are flat out not allowed to use any of them and if they get caught it really doesn't matter what their story is.

More and more guys are using the "testosterone replacement therapy" excuse. Testosterone replacement therapy = legally prescribed anabolic steroids. Yeah, it's legal and some of these guys may even have a legit medical reason, but anabolic steroids are banned in boxing period. It doesn't matter why you used them or whether or not you did so legally. If a test reveals that you've taken them then you're in violation.
