Whilst admittedly I don't know much about his level of competition I love watchign this guy fight. His combinations are so technical and his body shots are tremendous. Whats the general consensus on him, and is there any rumours as to his next opponent?

He's one of the best little guys. Tremendous combination punching skills with lethal uppercuts and nice variation, cuts the ring down superbly, very accurate, has two handed power, loves a brawl although has a calculated punching style. There are some defensive holes and I'd imagine a Joyi type of distance boxer could have success against him. His opposition was pretty good considering his age and passport, but he's yet to face the best at his current division. Mexicans seem to love him, and do we boxing fanatics.

Ah yes he has great uppercuts. I love watching fighters go to the body and finish with uppercuts. I've tried it in sparring before and its so hard to pull of, fighters like Gonzalez make it look so fluid and flawless. I like wtahcing the little guys fight, I just hate the foreign commentary which goes alongside them. I need to watch Joyi fight, I just wish it was in English haha. Just how good is Joyi BigBone?

    True elite.

What's wrong with foreign commentary? The Japanese for example are incredibly passionate, I'd chose that over boring **** I understand any day of the week.

One of the very best fighters full stop. Whilst he has got some flaws he also has speed, power, a solid beard, fantastic technique and beautiful combinations. A shame the small guys get bugger all attention.

Hirales? Hirales had lost two of his last three going in. What had he done to deserve a title shot? It's fair enough if he's having a "one for me" softish title defence, but the point where Gonzalez is concerned is that he has p4p type potential AND is growing. No fight with Calderon, whom I was predicting he could beat long before Segura beat him. Then no Segura showdown. No Joyi showdown. He hasn't delivered unification. He's married to the WBA. These are big fights that could make a crossover star of him, I believe, or at least take him out of the "hardcore fans" box.

By the time he decides to deliver, if he does at all, he'll be up at fly, where it will be harder for him. Gonzalez should already be p4p IMO. Instead, he's nowhere.

He's one of boxing's big missed opportunities. And most fans don't even know it.

TBH he should have only lost one of them, and that was to the very talented Neites. It's not like Hirales is the Sugar Shane Mosley of the lower weights. I wouldn't have fancied going to Sout Africa to face Joyi and Joyi hasn't exactly done himself any favours in a very long time due to his own inactivity.

It's not just Joyi, it's anyone. He fights who the WBA want him to fight, and that's it. What's his reason for not matching Calderon, Segura? If he beast Calderon and Segura, which he definitely could do, he's in the p4p top ten, straight away. If he unifies at light-fly he's on his way to the top of that list. You can't ignroe a fighter that Ring ranks #5 p4p.

    Instead, like I say, nowhere.

And if i'm wrong and he's not as good as I think, the WBA will still look after him.

You could say the same about almost ANY one at the lower weights, when was the last time any of them under 118 unified? (Ioka and Yeagashi are set to unify but when was the last...)

Those guys, for the most part ARE looking after their best interests - treading water and making defences because they're not sure how good they are. They can squander their potential all they want, I don't care.

Gonzalez, I believe, is a more talented fighter than Martinez.

Like Martinez, instead of Martinez, could be amongst those jockying for the tattered crown Mayweather/Pacquiao leave behind.

    That's horrific talent to squander.
