He talked sense. The sham licensing thing completely undermines the BBBofC and de-stabilises the way professional boxing has always been run in the UK. Britain has a good reputation around the world due to the respect given the board, and their 'monopoly' in sanctioning legitimate pro boxing. If promoters want to put on MASSIVE fights without them, it will lead to a totally new order. Probably anarchy. Still, I think the fight will go ahead. And we'll just have to see what happens. I suspect a rival British federation is already in the works.
What exactly do this board do so well anyway that anyone else couldnt? Apart from it being clear who the British champions are?
Yeah mate, I said something along the lines of that yesterday, a breakaway organisation of some sort! :deal
Who knows ? We'll soon find out. I suppose one thing is they have quite strict standards for who can box, who can referee etc. They withdraw licenses from guys with brain damage and eye damage, and withhdraw licenses from nut-jobs sometimes - or so I hear.
I'm tempted to set up my own. I'll sanction 15 rounders for British titles and bring back the small gloves, ol' school style. :good
Your gonna need a belt for your champions. Something like this perhaps? This content is protected :yep
