Floyd Mayweather: 43-0 Thomas Hearns: 61-5-1 Floyd Mayweather- Elite wins: Jose Luis Castillo, Sugar Shane Mosley, Genaro Hernandez, Diego Corrales Strong Wins: Miguel Cotto, Oscar Delahoya, Ricky Hatton, Juan Manuel Marquez, Zab Judah, Victor Ortiz, Angel Manfredy, Jesus Chavez Notable Losses: Some feel he lost the first fight to Castillo, others maintain he is 2-0 against the gritty Mexican. Thomas Hearns Elite Wins: Roberto Duran, Virgil Hill, Wilfred Benitez, Pipino Cuevas Strong Wins: Luigi Michillo, Luis Primera, Carl Willis, Fred Hutchings, Clyde Gray, Michael Olajide Notable Losses: Upset loss to Iran Barkley in a TKO 3, suffering the same in a crushing KO loss to Marvin Hagler. Some feel he really lost the Benitez fight. Wins, Head to Head Duran over Castillo Benitez over Hernandez Corrales win better than Cuevas Mosley win better than Hill Delahoya win better than Olajide Marquez win better than Primera Cotto win better than Michillo And then Floyd still has guys like Judah, Hatton, Manfredy, Chavez on his resume. Hearns has the top 2 wins out of the guys, with Mayweather having the deeper resume.
Huge Floyd fan, but went with Hearns, Just got to see how Floyd finishes his career before I rank him over any from Hearns,Duran, Leonard, and Hagler. Also head to head I feel like Hearns is the worse matchup in history for Floyd.
Head to head is definitely not in Floyd's favour, but when I do head to head analysis I would rather rate them in their best weight class to get the most accurate results. For instance, I'd pit Floyd against the best 130 lb'ers, and Hearns against the best 147 lb'ers in head to head match ups.
This is one I was thinking about today the difference is Money has won all his big fights.I'm a Hearns fan big time but its hard to do but I take Money UD Hearns allways finds a way to lose the super fight.
The KO loss to Barkley doesn't sit right with me. Neither does the Benitez fight (as great as he is) I felt it was a draw or a loss for Hearns.
:? Wha??? Most think he beat Leonard in the rematch. Even Leonard himself admitted they are really 1-1. Even.
Who is greater I go with Ray over the 2 and I did think Hearns beat him in the second fight but I really do think Money can out box him.
Leonard was pretty used at that stage though. Their first fight carries a thousand times more relevance.
Interesting point: Hearns gets a ton of credit for beating Duran at 154, who was out of his best weight, but was competitive above 135 and 147. Mayweather doesn't get a lot of credit for beating Marquez, yet Marquez gave the second best fighter at welter and ATG Manny Pacquiao absolute hell (most felt he won) at the same weight that Mayweather beat Marquez in. A bit of hypocrisy there across the board for most writers.
And people look at the whole body of work love the hit man but when he had to shine he allways came up short.
Hearns ,,Hard to find one win on Mayweathers resume that can rival Hearns win over Duran .. I mean were talking about Roberto Duran a top 25 all time great yet people want to compare that to who ? Hatton ,Gatti Marquez ? Combined they don't stack up to Duran !
