While the fight's date and location is known, UFC has yet to reveal which Vegas venue will host the event. Jones (16-1) will make his fourth defense of the title he won with a third-round TKO of Mauricio "Shogun" Rua on March 19, 2011. He successfully defended his title for the third time on April 21 with a unanimous decision over former sparring partner Rashad Evans. Henderson (29-8) returns to action for the first time since Nov. 19, when he defeated Rua by unanimous decision in a closely contested bout.
The fourth? This fight ain't lasting that long. Henderson's TD defense isn't nearly as good as Jones' last three opponents. If Hendo doesn't hurt Jones early, he's getting dumped on his ass and raped on the ground. No matter who wins, it'll be an early night.
Usually I would never rule Hendo out, but here I think he has to rely on some kind of freaky luck happening. JJ is so disciplined when following a gameplan I can't see Hendos right hand getting anywhere near him all night. Hendo isn't hard to hit either and I see this fight being very similar to Jones V Shogun and probably Hendos last fight.
Cant count the H bomb out. Hendo's right hand is such an incredible weapon. Everyone knows he has it, everyone knows it will come, where it will come from, how it will come *mostly* but they don't know when and Hendo's timing is just freaky. If Jones does it right, he can fight from the outside with Hendo like Anderson did, basic boxing tall guy strategy to take away the right hand; circle him right, fight from the outside off the jab, train to have the left hook counter, and right hand up the middle bomb ready when he makes mistakes or gets predictable and you can put a huge dent in the danger of that right hand. But you can never get comfortable because even if you catch him with a huge shot, he's probably just going to be a little dazed and hoping for you to try and follow up hastily to make a mistake. I see Jones doing the MMA version of this. He will be way outside of Hendo's reach. He will circle right, and he will throw nasty leg kicks to Hendo's left leg as well as jabs and crosses from the end of his reach. I think it will be similar to what we saw Anderson do, except Bones will brutalize him if he gets him on the ground. I really don't like the matchup for Hendo, I think it will be an ugly loss for him late in his career for most fans. But man he will go out on his shield, ****ing war dog Dan Henderson! Jones has nothing left to prove at LH. I think it's time he starts challenging himself in the division where he belongs and what he's built for instead of beating up all these smaller fighters. Bones Jones is already a legend.
Are you aware of Dans wrestling credentials? Trust me Jon Jones will do NO such thing with Henderson on the mat. Dan of course has the ability to hurt Jones but that's providing he can close the distance which will be very difficult because of Jones length. And Jones will not KO Henderson. Henderson has THE BEST chin probably in the history of MMA. There's no way Jones will land clean enough nor often enough to stop him. His conditioning though will be the key though and its likely Dan will tire towards the later rounds. The favourite has to be Jones by UD but Dan has fight changing discombobulating power in both mitts that could turn this fight on a dime. Personally im rooting for Dan. But a Jones cautious dare i say it Greg Jackson-esque boring UD is the more likely outcome.
Jones will stay on the outside till he takes Dan down. After that, he'll probably elbow the **** out of his body like he did Shogun. Once he does that, Dan will gas, and then he will eventually stop him with elbows and punches on the ground after Dan is too tired to defend himself.
Jake Shields. Wrestling credentials don't seem to be the perfect argument. Dan has been taken down plenty of time by much lesser fighters than Jones. Shields, while excellent, doesn't have the physical strength, leverage or the wrestling acumen of Jones, yet this will magically be the fight that he's able to avoid all takedowns because of his credentials? This isn't Michael Bisping shooting an outside double. Yes, that damn Jon Jones and his boring fights and history of decision victories!
The most likely outcome is Jones absolutely ****ing dismantles him. Hendo is a lot of things but elusive he isn't. Rashad has the best chance out of any LHW to beat Jones IMO. The more I think about the easier this fight gets for Jones.
Considering Henderson has NEVER been anything remotely close to dismantled i haven't got a clue what on Earth you're basing that on. And no Rashad does not and never did have the best chance of beating Jones in the slightest. You and i obviously see two entirely different things.
