I heard that Chavez has got rid of Alex Ariza and will not be with roach for the full camp (may be spending the last 2 weeks of his camp with roach)

Disappointed to see the latest from Walter Mitty character and aspiring boxing promoter Maria O'Sullivan.*

If anyone was left in any doubt that this woman is an unhinged, compulsive liar who would say anything about anyone in order to cover her own failings then here we have proof.*

Firstly, for the record, and I outlined this pretty clearly only a matter of days ago that I have no intentions of putting on a show in Sligo or anywhere else for that matter because it is financially unviable. If I was to put a show on it would be in Belfast but as long as Alio and Emerald are plugging away I would rather support them in their efforts.*

I looked into it. Costed it up. Had offers of help - for free - from multiple sources (including people on here), everyone looking to push pro boxing forward and even with that the figures wouldn't stack up. The thing is, i won't go announcing shows without having everything sorted. I would like to think I know a bit about Irish boxing but I am not vain or pompous enough to realise that am too inexperienced and green to do it without major help. **

Don't get everyone going, fans arranging transport and accommodation, guys like us getting excited, writing endless rambles and more importantly boxers and trainers busting their chops training, preparing and shifting tickets when you can't deliver. Get your show sorted first, have all your ducks in a line and then go public with it if it makes sense.*

Sure things change on a show and it's a movable feast right up until the first bell, but the frame and structure of a show should be in place and sums done before you go live with a show.*

Announcing shows and the having endless postponements and cancellations just makes you look like an attention seeker and erodes your credibility as well as eroding confidence and goodwill with the long suffering boxing fans in Ireland who will of course try and give you plenty of chances. Or as my ould lad would have probably put it's a case of 'all fur coat and no knickers'.

So to say that I want Maria's show to fail so I can benefit in boosting a show I have planned in Sligo is totally false.*

Secondly, I have not asked either John or Darren to leave Maria, join me or be on any show of mine, leave any show of hers or had any discussion with then prior to the Castlerea show failing other than to wish them well in Prizefighter when I saw them in Belfast and also to do a video interview to PUBLICISE the show in Castlerea when we were all at the photo shoot at the Giants Causeway a few weeks ago. Let's get that straight as well. I'll leave it to Darren and John to confirm which version of events is the truth if they wish.

So that's two massive completely unsubstantiated whoopers that she has told in just one post. And then she has the gall to suggest that she is talking to solicitors, maybe her brief needs to have a quiet word in her shell about coming out with stuff like that first. Is it any wonder people are calling her a compulsive liar?

Any suggestion that I in any way attempted to scupper or destabilise the Castlerea show in any way is 100% false. The opposite is truth. I can give details of that if needed.*

In the last week Christina McMahon, Michael Waldron, John Waldron, Darren Cruise and maybe more have all walked away from her stating that it is all promises and no follow through. *Irish boxing is small world, people will find out the truth about a person in the end. It's just a pain in the arse having to waste time wading through this type of **** until you do!

When Maria came to me over a year ago she didnt know the first thing about boxing but i didnt think that was necessarily a bad thing, breath of fresh air, new approach and all that *So I helped Maria for over a year, fielding multiple queries, giving advice when asked, giving coverage, intros and even myself and Kevin Finn did a three hour round trip to the launch of her first failed Dundalk show. Only Gerry Callan from the Star and us rocked up to it from the media, that tells you if I was supportive or not. *

So no one can say I never gave her and chance. But she then after all that she recently accused me of trying to poach her fighters because I visited the gym one of her fighters, Stephen Reynolds, when i was home in Sligo after the first Prizefighter press conference. She said I asked him to leave her and join me. I didn't. I can't say it plainer than that. *In fact weeks prior I approached Maria to offer her any support I could in promoting or managing Stephen because personally I would love to see the professional game flourish in my own home county because we've been starved of a pro since Vinny Feeney retired and think I could offer a lot in terms of boosting his profile etc. I think everyone in Ireland is the same. Maria turned that offer down and her paranoia grew from there and now it seems that anything that goes wrong for her is down to me. Nonsense.*

Anyone that has followed this site knows that I visit dozens of gyms all over the UK and Ireland for years and in those 1000's of visits if anyone in any of those gyms can point to one instance where I have acted inappropriately then I will eat my hat. *After all the help I gave her for her to turn around and accuse me of that was a sickening kick in the balls. I since washed my hands of her and will never have anything to do with her ever again after that. It seems those of that opinion are growing in number.*

I created this website to promote Irish boxing, I think I've done a half decent job of helping spread the word and some lesser known fighters profiles. I'm welcomed warmly into gyms as people that know me know I have the best interests of Irish boxing at heart. I would never turn down an invitation to visit a gym or promote a show even if it's from people who haven't liked what I have written about fights in the past. I'm straight down the line, open and honest, even if sometimes those opinions can be unpopular but I always have the interests of the game at heart and think I've built up a lot of goodwill because of that. I think a lot of people can vouch for me on that.*

So it annoys me to see Maria make false accusations like those above and just makes me not really believe anything else she says when others are accusing her of stuff. I wish her well with her next planned show at the National Stadium in June 30th. But it will be a brave manager or fighter that gets involved in that bill given her track record.*

good response leonard...all anyone has to do is read your recent posts here
you're doing well fella, a lot of people very proud of what you do...
as a neighbour of his i'd love to see the show happen where reynolds turns pro, but it would be a lot better if it happened without all this dirty washing in public like this.

Smith stopped her opponent in the second, but Kavanagh went out on an unusual score, losing all 4 rounds by a point!
    PTS 23 : 19
    R1 5 : 4
    R2 6 : 5
    R3 7 : 6
    R4 5 : 4

a show went down- everyone should leave it at that. All this love of drama and verbal sparring takes the focus away from the fight game. FB isnt the forum. should be sorted in house. I have more mails this week about peoples mental health and who can be trusted than any fight or boxing related mails.thats madness and detrimental to the sport. People dnt even know who was meant to be on the show but are rejoicing in what they think is a bit of gossip materail!
