Byrne's best win was probably a wide decision against Chris McCullen from memory for the Aussie Light Welter Title.

By beating McCullen, a solid domestic level boxer it prooved Byrne didnt have much else to go for down here which is why he headed over to the US 1st followed by the UK.

Australian permanent residancy i believe will qualify you to fight for an Australian or State Title.

and what does that tell you. How much do you think showtime are going to spend on this? how much return will they make on this fight? Pirog probably has many better other options so unless money is right then why fight Geale?

None of that has anything to do with geale not wanting to fight pirog and for less money. Which was my original point.

You are on a different tangent now...

More than a couple seem to be taking pot shots at Geale lately, I put it down to tall poppy.

look mate this is prize fighting. Geale does not generate enough interest in the US for Showtime to make too big a loss on the card. Its a non PPV card, so will have to make money through gate and advertsing. Trout is fighting on ard as well and Geale and Pirog, so how muh would all these want combine? 500k..so you have to make at least that plus costs in TV production, promotion, venue and other expenses. Tough biz...

Its all very well and good to say you will fight so and so for little money, but that does not make fights.

Maybe you should tell all that to pirog. He actually talked about fighting geale too. The pirog v geale fight was set for HBO, not showtime.
