Jones was on a superb level up to the point that he was undisputed champion at 175.

Then he suddenly stopped his career path with mindless mandatory after another.

Had he assaulted heavyweight much earlier and fought Holyfield then retired, he would certainly rank higher due to the mystique of his resume.

But no, after beating Ruiz, who is a perfect foil to win a heavyweight title, let alone that Lewis was the universally recognized champion, and came back at 175 with his zing all flared out. All that's left was the speed.

He didn't look great against Barrera, Morales, or Oscar?

You wanna **** on Pac for having tough fights against GREAT fighters? That's what happens when you fight great fighters, and that's why Pac is a greater fighter then Jones.

Jones didnt even fight all the best guys around his weight class.

 

The fact that he was still able to beat Tarver after being so drained, speaks volumes.

The last #1 or #2 fighter Pac beat was hatton, and he just lost to Marquez.

And the fact that the fight was incredibly close and on hindsight the fact that Tarver had a very short run at the top made that achievement just barely above the ordinary.

 

What was so ordinary about it? Tarver beat good fighters. And he's still a champ today :huh

I don't recall Roy getting outboxed once in his prime like Pac did against Marquez and Morales. He even got spanked by old Morales, who lost every round in his next fight.

oh...& hopkins was green. a year after losing to jones he got knocked down twice against a guy who wasn't a big puncher. hopkins didn't reach his prime for at least another 5 years.

 

About as legit as the one Pac won from Cotto isn't it?
