    Round 6

Brand tries sliding his feet inside out in mid-step to briefly switch southpaw, flipping out some right jabs and hooks before resuming his regular stance just as quickly. Hands low, circling, throwing looping shots diving in. Jack beckons Brand in, waving his hand, then trying to catch him with a jab. Brand slaps him with a couple of hooks and then nails him with a right as Jack keeps coming forward. Jack is missing all his jabs as Brand has found his defensive rhythm on the outside and remembered how to move his head when he spots the jabs coming in. Jack is just following Brand around, watching him duck and pinball off the ropes. Jack chases and misses with his jab. Wild left hook jumping in by Jack, with Brand skirting away against the ropes. Ole`!

    10-9 Brand

    57-57

Fair points. I just think an awkward style is going to give a relative newcomer some problems, particularly early in the fight.

No, @MikeCrispino, Willie Nelson is not coming off a defeat. :-(

His first pro defeat came in his fight before last.

I guess these fogies are "in touch" enough to use Twitter, but not to check Boxrec or Wikipedia? :p

    Round 7

Brand is ducking below the waist, throwing hooks to the jaw and looping rights to the other side of Jack's face, cracking against his line-up. Jack keeps squatting down to his level, trying to jab the body but missing and getting bonked with counter rights. Jack is plodding in, looking tired, missing jabs, as Brand ducks and swoops and hooks from low angles. Left hook to the jaw by Brand snapping upright.

    10-9 Brand

    67-66 Brand

Close fight, a lot of these rounds tough to score.

Although you can bet your last dollar Jack is getting the decision, promoters may scare him with a majority/split verdict though.

    Round 8

Jack is marching forward a bit more intently now, and catches Brand with a stiff jab while collapsing into the fifth clinch of the opening minute. Time out. Pablo Sarmiento is pulling Brand's trunks down, spinning his undies, making adjustments to his fasteners. Is he fixing a wedgie? You're allowed to take a time out for that? :blood Anyway, time in. BIG LEFT HOOKS BY BRAND!!! THEY ARE TRADING LEFT HOOKS!! JACK GETS ONE IN, AUTHORITATIVELY!! Jack holds. Left hook on the break by Jack as Weeks is getting between them. STERN warning by Weeks. Brand swerves his upper body to and fro, throwing wild hooks and rights. Jack just marches in against him and holds. Left hook by Jack! Combo by Brand! Reaching rights to the brow by Brand. Jack extends his jab, slicing air, pushing toward Brand and smothering him on the ropes. Brand circles and throws a wild uppercut, missing. Soft overhand right by Jack. A few jabs by Jack, and Brand lobs a right hand back at him. Clinch. Weeks breaks. Jabs by Jack miss. Right uppercut to the body by Brand.

    77-75 Brand

The 8th was a disgusting, grotesque round - but it was the best and most exhilarating all night.

As I anticipated, promoters not impressed and give him a razor thin decision.
