At the end of the PBF/ Cotto fight Emanuel Steward said he would have told Cotto to push through with the jab more, dont bounce around so much and waste energy and when he started getting hit with the right hook say 'dont just stand there and get hit all night, move back and put pbf off balance' (which is something Klit does). What you think of that?
I agree with them. Little tweaks here and there would have made a noticeable difference within the rounds, like slightly more upper body movement, a slightly more consistent jab, avoiding those looped rights at range, etc. Thing is, I don't think Steward would have conditioned Cotto or prepared him defensively as well as Pedro did. I get the feeling he would have stuck with one game-plan and simply chastised Cotto for not being able to jab and press every second had he lost.
Nothing wrong with giving tactical advice during a fight. The question is whether your fighter can make the real time adjustments to implement those changes?
