Even if he was hurt, does it matter? It makes me laugh when people say Pac schooled Mosley worse than PBF, just because PBF was genuinely hurt for a few seconds. PBF beat him for every second of every round and should have stopped him. Unless you're holding on for dear life - which none of these cases come close to - it just means one or two punches on a single occasion got through better.

Calzaghe and Jones both had world class chins in the day, Calzaghe's probably better. So what? RJJ protected his chin better, that's a skill in itself given how long he was at the top.

it seems to be a disease amongst american posters on here, to not be able to argue point for point and to duck specific questions with a load of bull**** waffle that isn't relevant to the specific points made.

I saw an interview with Andre Ward talking about it recently, and one point he makes is 'Carl Froch ignores defence'. If he does that against Bute, he will get seriously hurt. In Nottingham, Bute will have to clearly win 7 rounds or more, that's a big ask against a fighter like Froch. Personally, I think Bute out boxes him, picks his shots and moves off, not allowing Froch to set up his own offence. However, we'll see how well Bute deals with pressure, and if his stamina doesn't hold up then I see Froch getting to him late. Enjoy the fight!

By the way, are you going to Haye-Chisora?

Roy would hit Joe with some clean, hard, blindingly fast shots early, possible KD. Roy always checked if he could blast a guy out early, and I think he would hurt Calzaghe but Joe had an excellent chin and would get through it. Joe's activity would start to get him some points in the middle rounds as Roy finds himself laying on the ropes to take breathers. Joe's speed and unorthodox style will cause Roy some problems, as Roy won't be able to just sit back and potshot because Joe won't allow that. Roy will invest heavily to the body though, slowly breaking Joe down. The later rounds shift back towards Roy as he adjusts to Joe and the body punishment takes its toll on Joe. Joe will step it up as best he can late but Roy will prove to be too much in a 116-112 type of fight. Roy just has too much speed, reflexes, and power to go with his unorthodox style for Joe to overcome. I think Calzaghe would be very competitive in the fight and would give Roy plenty of trouble, I just think prime Roy is too much to handle for him.

That wasnt what he was disputing. People think because Calzaghe suffered some KDs at the end of his career in a new weight division, they try to pretend he was a KO waiting to happen, when he had a great chin. People forget Jones fantastic uppercut in round 6 which Calzaghe walked through

I have read through this thread, and while there have been interesing posts I think one aspect is beeing overlooked.

The power of a prime Roy Jones.

Calzaghe was rarely badly hurt during his career, so people assume he would be able to take Jones power, but I doubt it. Calzaghe would eat some numbing hard shots, and while he perhaps would survive them he would be tentative and not work as aggressivly as he normally does. Jones would then be able to box from the outside and win rounds. I see a fairly wide UK win with perhaps KD's to boost it.

Then what a fcuking fighter to get through all those world title fights, dominate two divisions and be a world champ in two others, and not get stopped until well into his 30s. Honestly, this forum is obsessed that bad chin = sh*t fighter. Has PBF got a great chin? who the hell knows? that's how good he is.

RJJ did have great power and the angles would have shocked Calzaghe. I just wish their perceived primes - ie a megafight - would have crossed over.

Remember how Calzaghe just walked through Jones massive uppercut at the end of round 6? Took it no prob, yet you talk of an illegal forearm, where Calzaghe got up and fought even dropping his hands. You probably forgot how Calzaghe mocked Jones power in round 4 when Jones landed full power big shots

Always enjoy reading your stuff :good
I'd point to the Eric Harding fight, and say that Jones could be frustrated and tactically out manouvered at times, diminishing his power as a result. :thumbsup

Jones would stop Joe at 168 IMO

Cal liked to get inside and trade a lot and I think he'd just get caught somewhere in the mid-rounds and finished off. I really don't take much from their fight being as it had well expired.
