Drained is used to denote WATER LOSS. Meaning fighters lose fluids by not taking water and sweating it out.

What is the poiunt of BEING DRAINED two weeks before the fight? You cannot probably even spar in that condition, much less try to train. You simply don't drain yourself while in training.

Besides, DRAINING is supposed to be a temporary thing, because anyone with a medicaL background would know that prolonged FLUID LOSS destroys the kidney. It is onl;y to cheat the SCALES, not to cheat yourself when in training.

on the Other hand, Oscar employed a nutritionist for this fight. What the nutritionist actaully did was for Oscar to lose weight slowly. The physiologic process of losing weight is:

You lose the FATS first, Tehn the MUSCLE MASS.

Now, in case even with very low fat percent and Hoya was still above 147, the dieting would sacrifice MUSCLE.

    Evidence?

Hoya NEVER REGAINED weight after weigh in...

    WHY?

Because he was never dehydrated to begin with.

    Despite IV Fluid?

Yep, simply because you cannot push more fluid as it causes pulmonary edema, voulme overload. So that the maximum fluid that you can give is not much.

In case of Drained Fighter, The FLUID DEFICIT is so great that you can give as much fluid as possible without causing these complications. It is like a fighter who just had a cholera.

Draining has its advantage and disadvantage. Some fighters never fully recover their strength even after rehydration, especially if the ELECTROLYTE DEFICIT is not corrected as well.

On the other hand, ypou are bigger.

It is as obvious as a day that Oscar is not drained. However, he might have lost MUSCLE MASS. (which also makes him faster but not stronger or harder puncher).

Oscar had to cut a few more lbs than the forbes fights thats all but he over did it

so what Pac looked like a midget in there, the man has bypassed 10 divisions at that stage of his career, the midget has the real disadvantage in these situations, however just for Pac a lot of boxing fans now think its an advantage to go up all those weights LOL

Even if Oscar was at the end of his career and lost more lbs than necessary the complete destruction that Pac put on him, not only killing him with punches but completley outboxing him makes me think he would always beat de la hoya in some fashion although maybe not as brutal.

Oscar was shot anyway. He got his weight very wrong and was a shell of his former self.

Manny has said he felt sorry for Oscar as he was beating him up. Pac coming up really looked up to Oscar as a fighter.

he difference between you and me is that I actually have a medical Degree and explained it medically, in terms of human physiology.

You are just blurting insults without actually understanding a single word I typed. Why? Because you are dumb and uneducated. So please, shut the **** up.

His body was drained from malnourishment. Not to mention it caused him to be over-trained. His whole body's system must have been out of whack as well.

It was said that He could barely eat and he couldn't hold water. His stomach and his body's ability to take in nutrients and enough fluids were basically shot.

So you think Larry Holmes would have always destroyed Ali ?

And remember, those two were at least the same natural size.

DLH was already losing it and fought at a weight he hadnt fought at for 7 years vs an in prime dynamo who has proved he is just fine as a 147lb fighter. DLH agreed, but probably had to train extra extra hard for the weight and couldn't carry the live energy anymore on fight night. It seemed that there was so much focus on him making weight for speed matching than actual gameplay.

    Meh, who cares?

Pac deserves utmost credit for taking the fight in the first place.

His dominant performance is just the cherry on top.

Noone considers this one of his best victories, but it put him on the map as a superstar and helped distinguish him from jmm.

DLH was in perfect shape at 147 guys.

A weight he had never weighed in the ring since he turned pro, but at 35 he was prime.
