people that fight bums yea, they do fight that often...and guys starting their pro careers ...do you think 210 days in between fights is about right when facing the 160 pound champ from japan? i mean GG went 1 round in the fight before against a guy that had lost 3 of his last 6 did that one round of WAR take a toll on him? so he needed 7 months for the Japanese marvin hagler? 6 months before that Ouma who had lost 4 of 6 fights 6 months before that a 14-2-1 fighter name julio tapia 8 months before that the worst fighter ever to fight for a middleweight belt milton nunez so come august it will be 3 years..... 5 fights....all "WBA title fights" all pretty damn pathetic so fighting at this pace against garbage, dont help...if the dude cant get big fights like everyone says, fight japanese middleweight champ caliber guys every 2 months until someone network steps up and is willing to pay and make everyone happy ...because his way right now...doesnt seem to be such a great idea
Absolutely, the problem is that Chavez would weigh 180ish on fight night and I don't believe GGG's punches will have the same impact...IMO.
Id love to see that but im not so sure the Mexican fans would be so keen. I dont think its all that healthy for a man of 180lbs to drain that much weight for a fight with such a concussive puncher, it will only end in tears for Chavez, shame it will be Martinez who ultimately dispatches of Jr and not Golovkin.
Golovkin is in the worst position possible. . . No drawing power, and very good. He'll have a hard time getting fights. . Any boxer with a major promotor, like Chavez with Arum, you can forget about it.
Yup. . . Man I watched him against Dirrell in the olympics just the other day, and I was very impressed. . I know ammy's isn't always the best indication of professional ability, success, and longevity, but he's already proved he's got the power, stamina, and the punch resistance. . His fundamental skill set is almost perfect. Base physical, athletic attributes are good too - speed, reflexes. He would be CRIPPLING at 154. . . 168, I think he'd do good too, but there are some heavy hitters there. . . I hope he can get some fights at 160 cause there's some great fights to be made. And I didn't mean that as an insult abot not having drawing power. . . But nobody will want to go to Kazahstan, or Ukraine to fight him, and he is only known to hardcore fans in the states, so nobody wants to take that risk of "another Pirog/Jacobs" situation. . LOL.
Going up to 168lbs would only be asking for trouble as GGG is only a small middleweight. Watched his last fight this morning, yeh the opponent was not great but Golovkin showed some nice movement, his parrying was top notch and ultimately the patience not to go ape**** against a guy who was only in there to survive. His accuracy with the right hand was like a homing missile. Hopefully we get to see Golovkin on the big stage in the near future.:good
Yup! Well said. . . He is a very good at pressuring his opponent, while counterpunching with surgical precision! I was a little critical of him after the Ouma fight, but he seemed to be fighting a little out of style that night. . And Ouma is a tough guy. Also I agree about him being a small 160 pounder - I think guys like Canelo Alvarez, and James Kirkland (154 pound fighters) are naturally bigger than he is. He is promoted by the Klitschko Brothers, so they could help attracting opponents. . . Until then, just keeping doing what you gotta do! :bbb
168 would be a big mistake for Golovkin. If he scored even a half decent win at 168 nobody at 160, let alone 154, would accept a match with him. He'd be stuck in a division above his actual walk around weight.
Golovkin's basic problem is that he has no fan base that can be brought to pay-per-view. Moving up or down in weight does nothing to solve this and I hope his team knows this. "I will fight anyone at 154-160-168" is good for the image but a really shitty career strategy. I hope Golovkin stays at 160 and uses patience and team backing to gradually get into bigger fights. Sturm is target no.1, but Sturm has no chance whatsoever against Golovkin and might retire or drop his belt in order to keep away from him. Hassan J'Dam did. I hope Golovkin gets a chance on US TV ...
somehow GG has no fan base and he is an exciting crushing KO artist looking to fight anyone yet sturm at this point in his career was boring, straight up style boxer who shut alot of guys out... and he was selling out arenas,,,, i fail to see the logic of why at this point he is not being showcased. how long has he been with K2 at this point in time?
I dont think he's been with the K2 long at all, certainly not long enough to secure a big fight. I have faith that they can secure something big in the not so distant future.
