I think Hatton was much more methodical than he was given credit for. A great amateur aswell.

(i ound the simple answer funny)
He knew how to fight dirty, he knew how to brawl but he had no idea how to adjust and he was limited.

IMO When he was younger he boxed better but against lesser opposition. He could not do the same later in his career against experienced fighters, he then needed to maul and rough them up to a degree.

Regardless of what I think he was one of the most exciting British fighters of the last 15 years. Always been a fan, seen him live and I will never forget the experience.

Yes, as DoYouWantThis said, his footwork & footspeed was actually amazing.

Absolutely, even though he didn't jab much due to his short arm length but he would lead left hook like no ther and follow it up with relentless pressure and work inside which includes clinching and for a great part of you who don't understand is a part of boxing. His footwork was phenomenal but I agree he had immense problems in defense when out on offense, specially not moving orcovering his head like it was deadly both against Floyd and Manny.

Even though against Malignaggi he displayed a jab and head movement, when Ricky got hit and was hurt against Pacquiao, he reverted to type, which was to recklessly come forward in straight lines and try to start a brawl.

Any world class fighter that ends up losing badly seems to be underrated and totally overlooked, that's very typical among ******ed fans in this sport. If Hatton is a bum for losing the way he did to Pacquiao then surely Duran is a bigger bum for losing in similar fashion against Duran.

Fact remains, Hatton is a world class fighter, two weight division champion who only wanted to fight the best. History will remember that very well.

Hatton had some of the best footwork of this era. He was incredibly quick on his feet and positioned himself brilliantly.

His footwork, body punching, chin in his prime, toughness, determination and workrate were all genuinely world class.
