Deontay Wilder's next TBA set for May 26...

I'll bet they are scouring construction sights, biker bars and 24 Hour fitness gyms across the country looking for a suitable "opponent."

 

He's waiting on wlad to retire before he comes out from under his rock.

 

They're probably trying to find a decent opponent actually willing to get into the ring with him.

I mean, if you were a manager, would you let your guy fight Wilder?
There's no upside.

 

After watching Harold Scoiners nearly stop him, I would be dying to put my guy in the ring with him

Do not get me wrong- I like Deontay, I think he can be successful if he takes a page from the Lennox Lewis/Wlad Klit book and learns to jab'n'grab, and I think that he will be successful to one degree or the other.

But I do not buy the theory that other guys are ducking him and I think this steady diet of zombies is probably regressing him.

You guys crack me up sometimes. Even great fighters sometimes have difficult fights. Klit-Sanders ring a bell? How about Ali-Norton?

And when Wilder faced Scoiners, he had been a boxer for a total of what, three years? (including as an amateur.) He's had around 8 fights since then, and has surely learned a lot. Yeah, he looked awkward against Dustin Nichols, but then everyone does. How do you fight a midget?

In all his other fights, since Scoiners, Deontay has look terrific. Balance, speed, reasonable defense for his experience level, a willingness to wait for the right moment, and of course the best OH right in the sport today.

"Oh, but he hasn't fought anyone really good yet." Yeah, so you can't use your eyes and recognize serious talent? Are you all just Boxrec warriors now?

Another thing. Everybody hear complains all the time (rightly so) about the lousy state of the sport, with fighters unwilling to fight each other, and management keeping good fights from happening, and fighters being protected, and yadda yadda yadda....

Yet, when a devastatingly powerful fighters faces nothing but bums, you assume, in fact insist, that he is personally ducking good opponents.

Too ****ing funny for words. And pretty sad.

He scheduled to fight June 23 also....

 

His last two fights were step ups in competition. I hope they put him in with good fighters because it´s obvious that he needs to learn the hard way.

 

Exactly how were his last 2 fights steps up??????

Marlon Hayes (last fight) was a 40 year old LHW that had been retired 5 years.

David Long was a 39 year old with 14 fights.

 

They're just trying to get his glass chin from shattering before they feed him to the klitchkos.

It's easy to look good against department store mannequins.

If he was THAT good and had THAT much skill, he'd be willing to test it by his 22nd fight. Most fighters by this point (especially an olympic medalist) are going up against gatekeepers, maybe a former belt holder, or at LEAST top 100 guys. Wilder has done none of this, and doesn't show ANY intention of doing so anytime soon.

His fight on the 26th will be against a zombie, that's certain because he has another date a month after. He won't want to risk a loss or that date is gone. We can hope the June fight will be something a little better, but I'm not holding my breath on it.

 

Wilder could easily be sighing figths against slightly higer end journeymen that would actually teach him something, and, for whatever reason, isn't.

Seems to me taht you are making excuses for the man when the rest of us are a bit tired of doing so.

 

Deontay Wilder is a future American champ. I hope he smacks whoever they feed to him.
He's still young. Even Tyson fought the Steve Zouski's of the world.
