In order of importance where would you place the different skills required in order to be a truly great fighter?
Usually when this question is raised most boxers and fans alike list skills like heart, skill, stamina, speed, reflexes, strength, punching power, chin etc...

Clearly in order to be a really great boxer you would need a healthy dose of all the skill sets, but which ones are most likely to give a fighter the best chance of a successful career?

Intelligence\ring craft. You can be lightning quick, powerful and have a good beard but if you don't know how to use it at the top level you will be found out.

Adaptability. Notice every guy with a proper title reign had this.

Very much this mixed with a heavy does of heart, the will to keep going even when it looks like all is lost.

I think will. Will is what makes you push back when the odds look grim, but it's also what pushes you to learn new things, seek out new methods, and find the answers to the challenges in front of you.

The drive to succeed, and being mentally tough is far more important than any physical skills you may possess. Of course, when you have someone who is gifted both physically and mentally you have a special fighter.

Balanced - can they do everything? fight on the outside, inside, counter-punch. . .

Do they have power . . . power in both hands? Speed? Stamina? Punch Resistance? Chin? Balance? Dexterity? Agility? Good jab, straight, hook, and uppercut?

I hate to use the cliche again, but see SRR for the perfectly balanced fighter. . which is why he is the GOAT.
