How do you figure that? He was punished and abandoned by the league before he went to trial.

Is this perko bloke a troll? I've never noticed him until recently when he was whining about dual citizenship NRL players

Hey perko ya derro - name one other NRL player who was caught drunk where the NRL fined his club $100K and forced them to stand him down for 4 weeks.

I just read the interview with Stewart in today's Tele...Gallop acted like an absolute ***** to him throughout the whole thing.

Gallop and Stewart previously had a good relationship - Gallop knew Stewart was a nice bloke and wouldn't kick up a stink like other players would, so he made an example of him. Gallop was too weak to make an example of Greg Bird, Anthony LaFranchi, SBW, Benji Marshall, Todd Carney, etc. :hey

Of course, Gallop's excuse is that Stewart was drunk and he was 'the face of the NRL' that season - barstaff at the Manly Wharf bar have since said on record he was not drunk, he was not asked to leave the premises, and that he left of his own accord and caught a taxi home.

The next season Benji Marshall was 'the face of the NRL' and he got into a stink with a bloke outside McDonalds before the season started and was facing court yet the Tigers weren't fined $100k nor forced to stand him down for 4 weeks.

I also wonder why the NRL never fined Manly another $100k and forced them to suspend Watmough for 4 weeks for slapping a sponsor at the same function :think

Being accussed of sexually assaulting a minor and in Benjis case having a bit of biff are two pretty different things though i reckon.

thats your key word there. Anyone can accuse someone of anything.
but then he was aquitted.. essentially brett stewart has done absolutely nothing wrong. the absolute minimum hes entitled to is an apology. let alone giving the 100k back to manly

Yes u are right thats why I used accused, but at the end of the day that is society, If i get accused of punching someone in the mouth some people might think less of me but if its something like Stewart was accused of they will think im a grub, sad but true, Human nature is to think the worst.

Gallen is a grub for never giving the money Manly were fined back.

Bit harsh. Hardly Paul Gallens responsibility to repay Manly 100k out of his own pocket.:D

Sure, Gallop reacted in a PR bid to be seen as doing something about it, anyone can understand that - what stings Stewart is the fact that not once since the matter occurred, has Gallop ever shown him any support, even away from the public eye.

How hard would it have been for him to call Stewart up and say something like "Look mate, I'm sorry but I had to take the action I took to protect the image of the NRL, but I want you to know that I and the NRL fully support you during these hard times and hope it all works out for you."?

If it's Sutton kicking for Vidot, then more then likely the ball with go closer to Nightingale.
I reckon it's a toss of the coin, though slightly leaning towards Souths.
GI, and the coal train will be a big loss, though luckily Sam is back now and Luke Burgess has been named on the bench.
Having Merritt come in for GI isnt bad back up considering he scored something like 11 trys in 5 games when he played fullback last season.

Hunt makes his first grade debut this weekend. So glad they went with him and not opt for Corrigan or Talanoa.
