They are very similar fighters on paper and style. Floyd is a bit more verstile and can adapt more. Floyd's strong will and determination is what edge more over Whitaker. I got Whitaker in the top 20 and Floyd in Top 5. They both got great resume. Started off very strong and won a world title early. Pernall faded badly at the end of his career. Part of being an ATG is being consistent.

Pernell is seriously underrated, I think he is top ten . . . I think you rank chavez a little high I got him top 25-30 . . . maybe top 20. there was a large gap between pernell and JCC

One thing Pernell is not on here is underrated... one thing Chavez is on here tho is underrated, badly underrated. Chavez was an incredible fighter.

The gap is very close between Pea & Chavez, they were the 2 best fighters since Leonard IMO.

I think the comparison of Pernell v PBF is interesting. I tend to think that it would be amazing to see. These guys have the best visions I have ever seen since started watching boxing. they both seem that they are fully aware of every little movement of the opponent and can anticipate there every action . . . it truly is a beautiful thing to see. The only difference I see is that PBF has problems with fighters with a good jab. Pernell had a great jab and was a southpaw which gives PBF issues as well. I would give the edge to Pernell based on those two points.

BTW I think Pernell beat Oscar the only argument in favour of Oscar could be that Pernell did not throw enough but I think he did enough to win even though he was using coke at the time.

I do not think their fight was close and neither was their skill. Their careers parallel each other and the proof was in the ring with JCC got one of the biggest gifts ever! How in the hell can 3 people score that fight close let alone a draw!

I say if you do not rank Pernell in the top 15 then he is being underrated

I had Whitaker a decisive winner myself, I personally think its a much closer fight both at their best at 135, the Pea that beat Haugen vs the Chavez that beat Rosario would have been much better than the actual fight at WW.

As far as the skill, Pea always had a skill advantage over every opponent but Chavez was 1 of the few who was close to him technically, he just had a cruder looking style but he was also a master boxer in his own right.

Out of all your rambling, you've established one thing to all of us, by putting Pernell in your top 20 and FLOYD in your top 5...

I know most of the posters on ESB don't know squat about boxing. Don't take my words for it. Every other day you see many active boxers say about Floyd and How they want to fight like him and emulate him. Funny how they don't say Ali, or Whitaker. think about it, i know you guys have no common sense but try and figure out why.
