ARUM set this up as an international tax move, its actually quite simple.

the gate is in the US, thus under US jurisdiction --> so US taxes must be paid. Pac's 5 mil is his share of the gate, which is counted as his income tax.

There is no way to make the gate not in the US because it takes place on US soil.

the PPV is run by a corporation OUTSIDE the US --> not US taxes. i.e., does not count in his share. anything over the 5mil does not count in his US income tax, because it is income earned outside the US. Instead, the PPV corp is based in a place like the caymen islands, with no taxes on income.

They can do this because the PPV is an intangible asset, its not necessarily tied to the US soil and thus jurisdiction, which means they can offshore it, and thus avoid US taxes.

    simple as pie.

    another possibility:

PPV is made by an out-of-us corporation in a country with no income tax. (Corporation A)

A US shell corporation is set up as an intermediary corporation. (Corporation B)

Corporation A sells the rights to distribute the fight to Corporation B for X Dollars. This counts as a loss for US income based on sales in the US. Corporation B distributes the PPV in the US only. They make sure the PPV is sold by Corp A to Corp B at a very high cost, so that the corporation B does not pull in too much profit, and thus gets taxes far less for US PPV sales.

Pac needs a smart finanical advisor. Not Michael Knocz who is basically working for Arum. Actually he just need to leave Arum.

Is that why Manny is going to jail for evading taxes in his home country?

unlike the US, the phillipine courts have probably never delt with a case like pac. A guy making income all over hte world via intangible assets. its really hard what counts as income in the phillipines and not. I'm guessing though, that if anything, it will go to the tax court in the phillipines and the juge will ultimately follow other common law countries and NOT tax pac for the income not earned off shore.

mayweahter does not have the same issues to deal with because frankly, he does not have the global following manny does. As a result, he does not have to deal with hte same international income issues that manny does. So his income situation is much more transparent to us (all US declared), whereas we will never really know how much manny is making.

Pacquiao's official purse is $6 million on the Nevada contract but he is guaranteed $20 million from by Top Rank because of PPV.

This was a tweet from Dan Rafeal for one of Pac's previous fights. But this is basically how it works. Whatever is listed by Nevada isn't Pac's official purse. It has do with taxes and contractual ****, but basically he's getting a guarantee of at least 15-20 mill each time he fights and then a % of the PPV. He got a guarantee of 22 mill last time against Marquez.

He is not going to Jail!!!!

That is why he is a Congressman because of this. He has to protect himself. Politicians don't go to jail in the Philippines.

And yes, he also paid less tax compared to the time he was earning less. If that is not what you call "SMART", you are an idiot.

The perpetual game corporations and people play - how to outsmart the taxman - andhe is winning by paying less tax.

Tweetybird on the other hand gets sued and his properties confiscated by the taxman ------ that is so dumb.

The tax office was complaining that he was not paying enough tax, nothing so grand as actually going to jail like tweetybirdfeatherfistedweather.

See, Everybody just needed to calm down.

It was all explained by Gander Tasco. The reason for the small base salary is because once you add up the PPV revenue along with the gate, vendors, sales of beer, popcorn and pizza and of course the valet service...Pacquiao is making at least $20Mil. Mayweather and GBP will have to accept 50/50 now...right?
