The Great Roberto Duran also has a knock out for 1 through 15 rounds when you combine his fights and had fought in the 60's,70's,80's,90's and 2000's he would have continued if he did not get in a bad car accident. This fighter is incredible and born to box. I am so lucky having grown up in the 70's to watch him and so many other great fighter's of that era. Duran is no doubt my favorite fighter second only to Sugar Ray Robinson in my biased opinion.
I have nothing to add except that all Duran's lightweight defenses are up for viewing and absolutely brilliant. Before saying he struggled with movers please watch him track down and beat senseless Lampkin, Bizzarro, and Fernandez. Please.
I believe Freddie Brown really taught Duran how to fight inside. That was the mark of Freddie Brown fighters. The angles he used the way he could protect himself while doling out punishment to his opponent. Arcel was a great cornerman. Also a great trainer he knew enough not to try and change much. Duran was a natural warrior. He was genuine.

If you want to learn a lot about Roberto Duran, go on ebay and pay a couple bucks for the two Sports Ill. articles. The one has the "No Way, Sugar Ray" cover from June 1980 and the other has Phil Ford the basketball player on cover from '75. Or just go to the SI Vault and read and see them for free. Also read the article from the issue "The Brawl in Montreal". William Nack was a GREAT writer and boxing guy and wrote beautiful articles in the 1980 issues on that fight.
I grew up watching Duran, as well as Monzon, and all the other great fighters of that time. See, we could do that on free tv back in the stone age. Duran made me a fan and student of boxong history. If you wan to argue that Robinson or Armstrong might be the best p4p fighters of all time over Duran, I won't argue with you, but of the fighters I've been fortunate enough to see in my 55 years, Duran is the best. Period.
