No! But he gave a good account of himself and showed how tough he was.

Former champ Jimmy Braddock said that "Farr won going away."

I believe most who saw the fight said that Louis rightly won the decision but Farr gave a good account of himself.

Louis in his autobiography said that he injured one of his hands in one of the earlier rounds which prevented him from scoring a KO.

No he lost, Louis hurt his right hand early , but Farr was a tough guy.

It was probably a little bit of a post-fight, knee-jerk reaction by observers, who didn't expect Farr to be so tough and go the distance.

The general consensus even at the time was that Louis won.Farr was extremely tough though and gave Joe a good fight.

It was a sub par performence by Louis, but he still deserved the win.

Louis seems to have injured his hand, but in later years he admited that he was still gun shy after his loss to Schmeling.

I'm sure a lot of Taffys, without the benefit of moving pictures, listening on the radio to the fight; firmly believed that their man should have won.

I remember a Tommy Farr interview where he recounted a particular Louis bomb hit him smack in the forehead "Boom!" he said "It was like being caught in an explosion."

Perhaps this was the very blow where Louis injured his hand on Tommy's head?

Anyway, here is Tommy Farr singing a song, accompanied on the ukulele by George Foreman.

Farr never claimed he won it, he told my Dad it was close but he lost. Tommy's training camp going into the fight was a war zone. He had lousy preparations for such an important fight, fueding with his manager etc.

He always maintained he beat Braddock though.

I seen the fight film with all 15 rounds, in 30 min hl, it was a close fight, I think it boiled down to power vs boxing, IE Louis did more damage with his blows than Farr and thus got the nod in the rounds needed to win.

Hard to judge damage wise in black and white, but damage does take into accout when scoreing. I think Louis nit it, perhaps by a more wider score with damage is mention.
