But Hearns is different because he is a former fighter....he doesn´t have knowledge of Boxing history, very few great fighters have....we shouldn´t expect a great list from a former fighter that isn´t a historian or isn´t someone who follows classic boxing too much....

Tyson is really one of the few notable examples of fighters with historical knowledge although I'm sure there have to be plenty more of whom we aren't aware of due to the limited exposure/interviews/documentaries to even come to find they have.

It is pretty amazing that he listed himself

False modesty? No thanks, I'm putting myself at #3.

I believe that in his mind he was being really humble....because he could have listed himself at #2 if he wanted to....lollol
IMO he is greater than Frazier....

Seems unlikely, no? If he did, then wouldn't that narrow down where the film is? Was it not the Cayton & Jacobs film collection that Tyson had access to with Cus?

I thought he was much more humble about 10 years ago when he said something along the lines of he doesn't mind where they place him, he's just happy to be rated, etc.

    Hearns' list... :rofl

that's my thought, that jacobs had it. comes from a quote in one of his interviews, the LONG beyond the glory documentary that HBO did i believe. he said something to the effect that he learned how to fight from cus by watching great fighters of the past...dempsey, greb and walcott.

he specifically said he'd seen greb fight and the only fight i think really still exists is the walker one. i'd love to just ask him if he's seen it.

that would mean though that espn now owns it...

I think Tyson still has an incredibly large film collection of his own he's compiled. He said in a recent interview (hell if I can remember which one) that he watches fights still virtually every night even with a now busy work schedule, family, etc. despite otherwise claiming he isn't interested anymore or whatnot. Hard to believe when he's in attendance at every big fight.

There is always a prejudice it seems, against fighters with the kind of record Lopez has. The tired cliche "he never fought anyone" is always the excuse they give.
In truth, when someone comes along who is so dominant at a perticular weight, it makes everyone else at that weight seem like "no one."
The better way to judge is to look at that division before and after the reign of a particular fighter (lookat how many great fighters suddenly appeared in the LW divsion after Duran left).
