While obviously a great fighter, Sanchez never struck me as a supremely gifted boxer in the same way as Canto.

when you die by age 23 and already accomplished what he had....its hard to argue about being the most gifted ever as you say.... he could have really gotten better and set all kinds of records or maybe burnt out since he had been a pro for 9 years already...but he was awesome for his age

Chava had all the fundamental skills mastered.I was reminded of this not long ago when I read SRL saying his feet were always in the correct place at the correct time.
It may be a slightly romanticized view but I am in no doubt that he would have gone on to be the best Mexican boxer of all time.Certainly better than Chavez and while I'm a massive fan of Finita,Chava would have been a more mainstream-friendly version of Ricardo Lopez.

Well Lopez is supposed to be the best pure boxer but I haven't watched that much of him. For me Sanchez was the perfect fighter and he became a top 30 ATG in his early twenties. As Icaman I think that he was probably going to burn relatively early. I would like to add that his chin was adamantium strong as his will.

P.S. has anyone watched his losing effort? Was it a close fight?

Sanchez, Finito, and Chavez. Sanchez whether he was in a chess match or a war he never gasped for air. Calzaghe, Floyd, Pacman, Bradley, etc when it comes to conditioning and stamina have nothing on Sanchez. Never lost his cool, very patient, could shuffle like Ali or unkeash rapid fire combos like Leonard. He could knock you out in the first or in the last round. Sneaky, sneaky power. Had great smooth defense he'd make you forget he was a Mexican fighter. He'd make fights look so easy. Because of his fighting style and lifestyle how he was always in shape he could of easily fought into his late 30's. Just look at Nelson and LaPorte how long they fought afterwards. Sanchez would of retired on top and reached his prime late 20's maybe early 30's he was too disciplined and too smart to burn out like others did. 23 wasn't his prime. Would of loved to see him fight Camacho, Chavez, Limon, Chacon, and ultimately Arguello.

I always thought Lopez was better, Shanchez was great but I fell Finito was technically one of the greatest of all time

Chavez was better, as was Olivares when he hadn't been ****ing around. Also, the more I see of Vicente Saldivar, the more I think he edges a decision over Sanchez, and of course Canto's in the mix.

gifted is a very loose term. Depending how you interpret it it could be Lopez. I think that Sanchez edges it due to his incredible durability

Very possibly, I wouldn`t argue with that, so complete, so smooth, such a brilliant fighter.
