Yeah, but it's unknown what kinds of testing they conduct to said sample?

No CIR testing from what I've been able to gather. They do test testosterone levels though, and as long as it's at ratio they don't go further

What's funny about this is that both Peterson and Berto were both caught with VADA, not USADA. VADA is significantly cheaper at $20,000 per fight compared to USADA's $90,000 per fight.

Instead of calling me ignorant, why not answer my first question and tell me how many boxers have been caught doping via blood tests as opposed to urine tests?

CIR is the way to go. If CIR was not used in testing Peterson he would have never have been busted. Gabriel Montoya of Max Boxing once again broke the news about Berto and is about the only boxing writer on this crusade. Kudos to him and the guys at Max Boxing.

Andre Berto Fails VADA Drug Test, Victor Conte Responds

Another major fight may have bitten the dust under the weight of true random blood testing and the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) protocol.

Andre Berto, who is working with infamous doping expert, Victor Conte, has tested positive for a banned substance with just about a month before his scheduled rematch with Victor Ortiz on June 23.

Berto, a two-time world welterweight champ, allegedly tested positive for nandrolone, an anabolic steroid.

Victor Conte, who has dealt in illegal supplements in the past, has taken his case to Twitter, speculating that the positive test result could be as a result of a contaminated supplement Berto had used on his own.

"Andre has admitted that he was using additional supplements that were not provided to him by me," Conte wrote. "I have recently warned several elite boxers about taking supplements I believe are not effective & possibly contaminated. Not all listen...I encourage my fighters to do VADA testing & will continue to do so."

Ironically, Berto had accused Victor Ortiz of having used performance enhancing drugs following his unanimous decision loss to Ortiz last year.

So somewhere in that drivel you posted, is there the name of a boxer who was caught via Random Blood Testing? Sorry, I still haven't seen it.

Former welterweight titleholder Andre Berto has tested positive for a banned substance, putting his scheduled June 23 rematch with fellow former titlist Victor Ortiz in jeopardy.

Berto tested positive for the steroid norandrosterone, a source with direct knowledge of the test results told ESPN.com on Friday.

Promoter Lou DiBella told ESPN.com he was unsure of what Berto tested positive for but confirmed the result.

“I know he tested positive. I learned it in the last half-hour,” DiBella said. “I have nothing else to say. I don’t know all of the details, so I have nothing else to say.”

Ortiz and Berto had agreed to use the Las Vegas-based Voluntary Anti-Doping Association for random blood and urine testing in the lead up to their fight at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Showtime had made the bout the centerpiece of its boxing schedule for the first half of the year.

Showtime is proceeding as though the fight will be canceled. A network source told ESPN.com that Showtime is already discussing with Golden Boy Promotions about possible replacement opponents to face Ortiz.

Berto submitted to a random urine test May 2, according to the source. The “A” test came back positive last week. The “B” sample also came back positive Friday, triggering VADA to alert the California State Athletic Commission, DiBella and Golden Boy’s Richard Schaefer, Ortiz’s promoter.

In April 2011, Ortiz outslugged Berto to win a welterweight title in one of the year’s most exciting fights. The rematch was supposed to take place Feb. 11 in Las Vegas, but Berto suffered a biceps injury, forcing the postponement to June 23.

This is the second high-profile positive drug test in the past two weeks. Junior welterweight titlist Lamont Peterson tested positive for synthetic testosterone following a March 19 random test in the lead up to his rematch with Amir Khan. They were scheduled to meet Saturday night in Las Vegas, but the fight was canceled last week.

Not to say I believe it, but it has been known for supplements to contain small amounts of PEDs.

I knew guys in the Marines who failed drug tests taking supplements.
