JC is persistently underrated, and through spite, I believe. Most of those who lowrate him do so knowing better.

 

No one is as underrated as Gene Tunney...even more so than Ezzard Charles.

 

I agree with Tunney. I also agree with Larry Holmes, although Holmes is starting to get the recognition he deserves.

I'll throw in Max Baer.

Flea, great subject and I love your inclusion of Venice Borkorsor and Chucho Castillo, who would certainly be in my top 5 underrated. Mulling things over in my head, this can easily go wayyyy beyond 5 fighters. But offhandedly without thinking too much on this I would add Rodolfo Gonzalez, Hector Thompson, Halimi Gutierrez, Gaby Canizales and Ken Overlin.

Larry got his recognition ages ago. It's now a cliche that he's the 'forgotten' champion IMO.
