Sometimes your first gloves ever are crap, sometimes clearly inappropriate for your needs, sometimes even toy ones... - and yet they stick in your memory and can be especial in some nostalgic kind of way Have you fond memories of your first pair of gloves? btw, mine were just cheap Everlast almost-toylike gloves, but I had some fun with them on and won't forget them
my first pair was a cheap training pair of everlasts. The inside by the thumb ripped within a month of me using them but I was on deployment so i figured it would tie me over. Next pair was a set of Everlast Evergel 12 ozs and they've actually held up surprisingly well
A pair of 18oz Londsdale gloves. Got them lying around the house somewhere. They're like fighting with pillows on your hands. Utterly crap.
My first were used Pride 10oz gloves. Once i went in cinema with my girl , she couldnt sit near me how my hands were stinking. Gloves still smell like ****, i use to give them to new people on training, they are always given back
yea i have no reason to ever go to 18. I walk around at 148. So lonsdale is overall pretty good huh? I've never really heard anything outright negative.
pair of "century" no protection, worn down, the thumb was so loose you could really hurt yourself pretty badly and no wrist protection. i still own them just for the heck of it. nice to have what you started with
pair of everlasts i got from walmart. the little black ones with the elastic strap and the padless thumb lol they were worn right down with no padding and i used them for quite a while before upgrading to rivals. still got em laying downstairs with the rest of my ****
Think I remember my first 5 or 10 pairs... 1 -10oz chinese sanshou gloves given as a gift from a friend in 2001 - didn't use 'em all that much, they became community gloves at my kung fu school 2 -Red everlast old fashioned bag mitts with elastic wrist in 2002 - same as above 3 -Black TKO fightgear gloves, 16oz in early 2003 - my gloves when I started sanshou (chinese kickboxing) full time, think they fell apart in a month 4 -Red Title 24oz safety gloves in spring 2003 - these lasted a looong time, but only used them regularly for about 6 months, sparring and a bit of bag work. 5 -Black Everlast 18oz training gloves in summer 2003 - Used a few times, stuff that seemed like plastic horse hair started coming through the inner lining, gave them to a friend who loved them and used them for years. 6 -Red Twins 14oz gloves in summer 2003 - loved these till the padding got all weird: one layer got all soft, and the inner layer bunched up over the knuckles. 7 -Ringside Ultimate Classic superbag gloves Large summer 2003 - pretty good gloves, but they were really too big for me. When I'd hit the bag all sweaty, they'd start tearing up my knuckles (sometimes even with wraps). Had 'em a couple years till I gave up on them; ended up getting the same thing in the Regular size and just retired them recently. after that, it gets a little fuzzy.... My favorite gloves of all time: 1 -Grant Ultimate Bag gloves. Best gloves ever, - R.I.P. 2 -Ringside Ultimate Classic super bag gloves Regular. - R.I.P. 3 -Boon training gloves. 12, 14, and 16oz - still in my bag. 4 -Ringside IMF Training gloves 16oz. - R.I.P.
Matsuru Bag Gloves (Tears inside the cloth inside the glove) Twins 16 oz paid like $40 for them and they are great gloves. Start to smell like death though
