Will this be his toughest test--going across the pond to face Froch? I'm not sure I see Bute pulling out a win unless he knocks Froch out, and I don't think that's very feasible.
I doubt Froch will get a gift if it comes to it But its a big opportunity for Bute to show whats hes worth A loss could be devastating for his "world" career as none of the other top fighters will give him the time of day But hes still a draw in his hometown, so he will always get the semi big fights
Very feasible. Jermain Taylor almost KO'd Froch, and Bute is a very big SMW with exceptional power. The question is, can Bute, a fighter who lost to Andrade, ffs, hold his own against Froch, a guy who has fought the very best at SMW. Bute does not have Ward's defensive talent, so Bute will get hit by Froch. How will he respond? That's what will make this fight interesting. That, and that no one's getting a decision in Nuttingf*ckingham against Froch unless they put him on his ass every other round.
Complete respect to Bute for fighting Froch in his back yard. If he wins, theres no doubt he's the real deal.
If he beats Froch, some will still **** on him saying Froch is shot, he hasn't been the same since he lost agaisnt "that fighter ", etc. But yes, we're about to see just how good he is.
Yes, we might well find out how "good" Bute is, but on the flip side, we also might find out how "overrated" he's been. :smoke
If he gets robbed, he gets robbed. If he clearly outboxes Froch, regardless of the decision, we'll know he's the real deal and Ward's clear #1 position at the top would not be as concrete.
Taylor never got anywhere near close stopping Froch. He knocked him down, big difference, Froch was not in trouble. Bute has more power than Taylor and has KO'ed lots of tough fighters before. But he has never fought someone like Froch and he has never been up against a big name in his home town. We will find out a lot about Bute next weekened. I think the biggest test will be how he handles the later rounds, when Froch is always strong and Bute has been hurt before.
I do not think many overrate Bute, he has been considered one of the best at SWM and I am sure he is. But just where he fits in among Froch, Kessler & Ward has been hard to judge when the others have been busy fighting each other and every other name in the divson while Bute has been collecting easy money for 2 years. But there is no doubt Bute is a strong fighter. Even if Froch brutally KO's him early I would still put Bute top 4 at SMW.
