If both men's peak weights were similar, this would be a great fight. But Arguello was at his best as a Junior-Lightweight,and Benitez as a Welter.

at 140 Arguello. I honestly think Benitez fought best at 154. Which makes people say how can he think that. He seemed to mature more and get a little power and his speed compared to most 154 pound fighters was significant with his experience , and he calmed down a little more and fought his fight. Too bad he fought Hearns who matched his speed because he could have had another 2 years of a reign at 154.

Hearns at 154 was just too big for Wilfred.

Benitez defence, speed, movement, all wrong for Arguello

too fast. Benitez fought at 154 before Hearns ever did, but I see your point. Hearns advantage was that he was tall, but how many guys can be 6-1 1/2 and fight at ww. There are disadvantages to it also. Bob Foster can be said to be too big for everyone he fought, but there were ways to beat him if someone could have gotten to his chin or body.

Nonsense. Benitez was very good at 140lbs. Ok, I'll say that Argeullo would lose because he was past his prime at 140lbs. Benitez, was perhaps at his best at 154lbs but that doesn't automatically mean he was poor at 140lbs.

I think Arguello is the better fighter here in every catagory except defense. I should have made this a P4P fight as too much emphisis is on the weight here as that wasnt my intention.

No, Benitez was good at 140. He gets a bad rap in history because of the 3 legends he fought Leonard,Duran,Hearns, he lost to 2 of them. But he did beat Cervantes and won 3 titles when it was an accomplishment. I just meant Arguello was past his best at 140 and Benitez before his best, but I just see Arguello edging this one. Alexis could have fought anyone else at 140 and probably beaten them, but he fought the most hungry guy at 140 in Pryor that he could who was great on those 2 nights.

Benitez would outpoint Arguello at 140. He would be slipping Arguello's jab, and coming inside. Alexis would be in the fight though, because he would be more than capable of setting a trap and scoring a knockdown or even hurting Benitez with single shots...Arguello would score because he is such an accurate puncher...but never able to put more then two together. Benitez a little bigger, quicker, stronger, better defense...too many things in Benitez's favor.

Arguello, too well rounded for Benetiz, who preformed best against boxers who he could make miss
