What are peoples thoughts on Andy as a boxing commentator?? I've always liked Andy as he seems like a really genuine down to earth Aussie bloke, but last night a friend was talking to me about the Tomlinson card and how bias he thinks Andy's commetary is, He was saying that Andy was raving about Blake Caperello landing combos when Berridge was actually doind the better work. When I think of Bias commentators I automatically think of Barry Michael sucking up Chocs arse and sometimes even giving rounds to Choc when he isn't even fighting Is Andy in this league??
I remember back in the days when Boxing was a regular occurence at Penrith Panthers and Andy was the ring announcer, he used to drink about 12 schooners between each fight . He has come a long way.
You have to love his dedication to boxing. Although his knowledge of the game very limited. I think all the commentators on fox are biased and at times it's hard to listen to. I've had to put them on a few times.
On the money! He is OK! Not ****, not great! Less biased than the ultimate Mundine rectum cleaner that is Barry Michael and he injects more excitment into a call than some of the ass clowns we get on international broadcasts (eg; Dave Bontempo - who seems like a decent dude just an uber dull caller).
i wish the kickboxing commentator was given a run and the entrance by daddy cool is worth a watch all entertainment and the fights are full on the big kabosh he was hit with so many rights he begged him for a left more hits than a playboy web site etc etc although it puzzles me when a guy is on the ropes getting hit with both hands and the orther guy then kicks him in the leg giving the guy time to recover from the fist barrage ,the good kickboxer/boxer always has the advantage over the overseas kickboxers good fights but

He might be a nice bloke but as a boxing commentator he is absolutely ****. I've lost count of the amount of times he has embarrassed himself when commentating on an abysmal friday night card when stating that some bum with a record of 5 - 3 (2 ko's) "can bang".
From to time, one has to dress it up a bit, At least he doesn't crap on how he just came back from Japan, Thailand & is off to Indonesia = Self centered **** which got a certain commentator the arse, cos that's all he wanted to talk about. No Mars Bar for guessing who that was
I seem to be in the minority here but I actually like the bloke. For mine he seems pretty informed, dosen't trip over his words and his interviews with fighters on the night seem to go over well. Not saying that he's the best or the worst we've ever had , but at the moment I don't see anyone else I'd prefer in the job.
