I thought Cotto's jab was more effective than Floyd's jab in their fight. Cotto was catching Floyd with the shot in the middle of Floyd's punches, and even when Floyd was in his shoulder-roll position, ready and waiting, Cotto could still tag him. He caught Floyd from both range and from up close with the jab. At one point he caught Floyd with three jabs in a row. Floyd did good work with jabbing to the body, but Cotto's jabs looked more punishing and consistent.

(One thing I did like was that Floyd was sometimes feinting the jab, waiting for Cotto to move to the side, then sweeping that right-hook around his guard. He did this more than once.)

Mayweather has never in the history of his career faced a tall slick boxer with a good jab.

He has an opportunity with Martinez, but it's likely he will make excuses and the fight will never happen.

It sets up his left hand. He doesn't have to throw it. Feinting is a big part of the game.

I still consider that use of the jab because it's still a threat, and when he does throw it, it's very accurate.

What I do know is that he offered to go to 154 and fight for 20%.

So, if Mayweather doesn't fight Pacquaio, I think this is the logical fight considering Mayweather is the 154 champ and just fought the top guy at 154.

 

Feinting is feinting, jabbing is jabbing. Martinez is not a jabber, nor is that a large part of his game. He is very accurate whenever he does throw it, I'll give you that.

Mayweather took a title at 154 but only a mong truly believes he's gonna campaign at that weight. According to him, he lost weight and weighed 147 on fight night against Cotto, while coming in at only 151lbs at the weigh-in. Martinez fight ain't gonna happen, and it's stupid to think it "should".

Mayweather should fight weak ass Khan who's weak as **** and let Peterson push him around like a *****.

Because that's fair? Does that make sense to you? Mayweather can go down in weight and beat up little guys with no chance, but he can win a legitimate title against the highest rated guy at 154, but he's not allowed to fight any more 154 lb fighters?

The best fight to be made is either Martinez vs Mayweather or Pacquaio vs Mayweather.

It's clear Mayweather is pricing himself out of Pacquaio unless he agrees to Shaefer's idea of weighing the revenue each fighter produces and creating the split based off of that ratio, but that's unlikely going to happen if history is a judge.

This leaves Martinez who can make 154 and should be able to fight the 154 lb champion. Not only that, Martinez will do it for 20%.

Instead, you'd rather have Mayweather beat up little ass, weak ass Khan who got the **** beat outta him by Maidana and then got the **** beat outta him by Peterson?

I'm not really interested in a Khan vs Mayweather fight.

 

Go ahead and "tear" my post apart, but I don't see how you can argue against Shaefer's suggestion.

Mayweather will still get the lion's share of revenue, but it will be FAIR and IMPARTIAL based on REALITY rather than FANTASY.

Please...another weak ass fighter that does nothing impressive. He quit one time when he got a tiny cut.

So...he's out. Especially considering, Angulo, Lara, Williams, Kirland, and Molina are all better challenges than Guerrero.

You know as well as I do that GPB expressed no interest in putting Canelo in with Mayweather, but I suppose I can leave that open as a viable fight in the future.

Who does that leave? While Angulo, Lara, Williams, Kirkland, and Molina are all more competitive fights than Khan or Guerrero, none of them can really sell a fight.
