Floyd was a PPV startup when he fought Oscar De La Hoya. What he is offering Pac is similar to what Oscar offered him (a 67-33 split). Problem is, Pac is not a PPV startup. In fact, Pac has outsold Floyd in total PPVs, though Floyd averages more.

PPV history at time of De La Hoya-Mayweather fight

    Oscar De La Hoya

    1. Rafael Ruelas (5/95) 330,000 buys = $9.9 million
    2. Genaro Hernandez (9/95) 220,000 buys = $6.6 million
    3. Miguel Angel Gonzalez (1/97) 345,000 buys = $12.1 million
    4. Pernell Whitaker (4/97) 720,000 buys = $28.8 million
    5. Hector Camacho (9/97) 560,000 buys = $22.4 million
    6. Wilfredo Rivera (12/97) 240,000 buys = $9.6 million
    7. Julio Cesar Chavez II ( 9/90) 525,000 buys = $23.6 million
    8. Ike Quartey ( 2/99) 570,000 buys =$25.7 million
    9. Felix Trinidad (9/99) 1.4 million buys = $71.4 million
    10. Shane Mosley (6/00) 590,000 buys = $29.5 million
    11. Javier Castillejo (6/01) 400,000 buys = $16.0 million
    12. Fernando Vargas (9/02) 935,000 buys = $47.8 million
    13. Yory Boy Campas (5/03) 350,000 buys = $17.5 million
    14. Shane Mosley II (9/03) 950,000 buys = $48.4 million
    15. Felix Sturm (6/04) 380,000 buys = $19.0 million
    16. Bernard Hopkins (9/04) 1 million buys = $56.0 million
    17. Ricardo Mayorga (5/06) 935,000 buys = $46.3 million

    Total PPV buys: 10,430,000
    Average PPV buys: 614,706
    Total Revenue: $490.6 million
    Average Revenue: $28.9 million

    Floyd Mayweather Jr.

    1. Arturo Gatti (6/05) 369,000 buys = $16.6 million
    2. Zab Judah (4/06) 378,000 buys = $17.0 million
    3. Carlos Baldomir (11/06) 325,000 buys = $16.2 million

    Total PPV buys: 1,072,000
    Average PPV buys: 357,333
    Total Revenue: $49.8 million
    Average Revenue: $16.6 million

    Purse split:

Oscar De La Hoya: $52 million

Floyd Mayweather Jr.: $25 million (5 times his previous highest payday for a fight)

Equivalent of 67-33 split in favor of Oscar De La Hoya.

At 50/50, Floyd only gets $2,500,000 more his highest payday while Manny would make $27,500,000 more his highest payday.

Floyd does a lot more revenue. Looking at common opponents Floyd averages more than $30 million more per fight in revenue. 5 common opponents to get this average from.

Floyd averages 1,705,000 PPV buys in common opponents while Manny averages 1,113,000 PPV buys in common opponents.

Floyd has a career high of $50,000,000.

Manny has a career high of $25,000,000.

This is for one single fight.

    Oscar and Floyd split $79,000,000.

Manny and Floyd will be bigger and will split around $105,000,000.

If Floyd chose to get raped in negotiations and took the 50/50, he would only make $2,500,000 more his highest payday while Manny would make $27,500,000 more his highest payday.

    Just stop this.

You dont know how much this 2 guys earning EXACTLY.
Not unless you have copies of thier contracts.
So all of your figures are BS.

50/50 was fair before, should be more than fair right NOW.

Floyd made that equivalent when he fought Oscar. Made $25 million against De La Hoya, $20 million more than his previous high earnings.

    But no complaints from you?

This is Business it is about "what's in it for me"

If you were Floyd why would you take Half? You are undefeated and the face of boxing, not to mention the largest box office draw in the business. Floyd can make the same money with less risk. So, why would he take the fight under those terms.

No, 50/50 was fair in 2009. Floyd has went on to become an even bigger star and make even more money without Pacquiao.

Floyd should take the bigger cut.

I personally think Floyd deserves more than Pac. Just not the equivalent of a 70-30 split in his favor, which would be worse than what Oscar gave him when he was a PPV startup.

Going by their PPV history, I think a 55-45 split sounds close to being fair. Of course, like you said, an accountant (the one who has access to all the books) can better determine the numbers.

and if you are pac, why would you accept something that doesn't give you any share of the PPV when you have sold more than a million PPVs 4 times when he is the A-side (5 times total including the oscar fight where he is the B-side)?

this fight is big because of the two of them and not just floyd or pac alone and a fight of this magnitude deserves a 50/50 split.

    your computation is BS.

    FLOYD:
    oscar - 2.4M
    hatton - 0.925M
    jmm - 1.05M
    mosley - 1.4M
    cotto - 1.5M

    TOT: 7.275M
    AVE: 1.455M

    PACQUIAO:
    oscar: 1.25M
    hatton: 0.85M
    cotto: 1.25M
    mosley: 1.3M
    jmm3: 1.41M

    TOT: 6.06M
    AVE: 1.212M

and basically, the numbers were skewed by the oscar fight which happened 5 and 4 years ago respectively where both floyd and pac were B-side. if you compute the common-opponent average when both are A-side... both would have roughly the same average.

    FLOYD:
    hatton - 0.925M
    jmm - 1.05M
    mosley - 1.4M
    cotto - 1.5M

    TOT: 4.875M
    AVE: 1.218M

    PACQUIAO:
    hatton: 0.85M
    cotto: 1.25M
    mosley: 1.3M
    jmm3: 1.41M

    TOT: 4.81M
    AVE: 1.202M

94 million there you go. Like Ive said all along this fight will be the biggest in history i feel it and HBO feel it will break all the records and numbers.

The fight alone has the chance to do $150 million in PPV sales alone then thats not including Sponsorship deals the Gate etc etc.

Yet Mayweather fans think its a fair deal to pay Manny 40 million flat and Pac would have to pay Arum, Roach and co by the time Pac was done out of that 40 million for the biggest fight ever he would probably see $20 million. For a fight that he could make $50 million alone.
