Ortiz got lucky, Berto and Mayweather are friends. Mayweather went to watch the fight and got excited about boxing again watching that fight so Ortiz got the fight.

Not to mention the fight generated 78mil and Mayweather made 40mil off of it. Clearly Ortiz had buzz around him.

He said he was interested and maintains interest, its up to Maravilla or Williams or any other fighter to seal the deal by drawing up major interest within the casuals.

If Martinez wants a Mayweather fight then he needs to target common opponents of Mayweather and beat them. Like a Cotto. Pac got linked to Mayweather once he beat common opponents like Oscar and Hatton.

Better yet why not Maravilla pull a Bradley and sign with GBP which would up his chances at Mayweather 10 fold?

Yet his performances vs Barker and Macklin aren't ringing endorsments either. He got the KO's as they tired and them being stiffs caught up to them. I would like to see him vs another highly skilled athlete like Lara before we talk about Mayweather.
