I read alot of stuff from the 70s were former fighters and writers say jim jeffries in his prime was the greatest.

Ali would have destroyed him he may really not have even touched Ali.

Not sure on that, a major factor in this fight is the rule set here. And glove type.

Ali is going to have to pace himself in Jeffries day. And Jim might have to start faster than normal in a 15 rounder perhaps.

The Sport Ali rule in the 60's and 70's was a other sport compare to the one Jeff rule in the 1890's to the early 1900's.

Are you mad? No matter what rules or gloves are put in place, Ali would still push his **** in ridiculously quickly.

There are some realy silly statments being made here.

Ali might have been the greatest heavyweight of all time, but it certainly didn't take another great heavyweight to give him a competitive fight.

You probably could pick a ruleset under which Jeffries would win.

What like first person to get hit wins? There is no logical argument behind Jeffries winning in my eyes.

No actually you couldn't ,a 40 years old man ,coming out of 2 years retirement, who scaled inside the super middleweight limit, beat Jeffries face to a pulp for 8 rds, smashing his hands to bits in the process. Ali would absolutely crucify Jeffries.

Whatever his limitations, this 40 year old man clearly hit a lot harder than Ali, and lest not forgett that he got buldozed prety quickly.

Just make the fight long enough.

    Ali can't dance forever.

And Jeffries can't take those quick fists forever . If he'd been fighting Fitz today ,the ref would have stopped it, awarding a tko to Fitz. Hype Igoe who was ringside ,said Fitz punished and tore up Jeffries worse than Dempsey did Willard.

Read the report I posted on the Jeffries/ Braddock thread. A past it Corbett outboxed Jeffries, and was in front after 23rds. Ali is Corbett squared, stronger , bigger, faster, harder hitting, and10x more durable.= Ugly mismatch

Ali comes along in Jeffries times, primes in '03-'04, I don't know who wins.

Jeffries comes along in Ali''s time, primes latter 60's, I'd go with Ali, expect it to be a rough fight, wouldn't be suprised if Jeffries won.

Ali time machines from latter 60's to '03-'04, if Ali trains properly, I favor Ali, expect a tough fight, wouldn't be suprised if Jeffries won.

Jeffries time machines from '03-'04 to latter 60's, I'd strongly expect Ali to win, wouldn't be suprised if it wasn't a particularly rough fight.
