Gabriel Montoya reports that further analysis of Andre Berto's failed VADA drug test reveals traces of nandrolone so low that it is almost surely a case of contamination, rather than a true attempt to cheat:
Sources have informed me that analysis of Berto's positive tests results for nandrosterone (a metabolic byproduct of nandrolone) revealed "ultra-trace amounts of Nandrolone in the low parts per trillion range and consistent with contamination not intent."
In other words, the amount in his system is so minute [very little] that it is highly unlikely that he intentionally ingested nandrolone but was rather contaminated by food or a supplement.
As Montoya says, this is good news for Berto and his team, but I'm personally not sure how good the news can really be at this point. A lot of folks are simply never going to believe he wasn't intending to cheat, that he wasn't really "juicing," or that this is a mistake which could happen to anyone.

This being said, why was Golden Boy so quick to cancel this fight when they knew for months about Peterson but let it continue?

My bad, they informed Peterson camp months ahead, not Golden Boy.

The fight has not been canceled as far as ticket retailers are concern. I have tickets for it, and I asked for a refund and they said (ticketmaster) that it is not officially canceled, as of yesterday anyway.

Them going public with the 'postitive test' without absolute confirmation of him cheating is shocking. Berto's name is now tarnished even though he doesn't appear to have done anything wrong and - despite the fact i don't really like him and he comes across as a complete bellend - you have to feel for him.

Maybe we still get to see Berto-Ortiz II.

Hope so.

Cause this summer is looking bleak in terms of boxing.

oh okay. it's good to know that the likelihood is that berto unknowingly took some tainted substance, versus outright cheating like peterson. i'm sure fans on this board especially, will pay it no mind and gladly still group him in with the cheaters.

If I was Berto I would sue the s.hit out of whoever released that false result!

That's out of order they should have tested the quantity of drugs he took to determine the levels of contamination.

Golden boy says Ortiz is fighting someone else now. They moved too quickly. Now we miss a great fight for no reason.

Shame for Berto

Some People have always questioned whether he is on something or not

Now them people are convinced.

Still don't understand why the fight is off...

Guess once the tests came back 'positive' Ortiz's camp had the ability to cancel it outright

With hindsight it would have been better for them to wait a week or two..

But if further investigation was/is required then it still is the right choice

Geeeez u guys are gullible, he had a banned substance in his system, u cant do that, how many other sports have this problem for example cyclists and they always try to blame contaminated supplements etc and its doesnt wash. If you are unsure of the products u are taking its UR problem, why does it have a steroid contamination in the first place? If i was going to cheat i sure as hell will have a backup story to try to possibly save my career if i get caught, there is only a very small chance its not cheating, same with all of em, at the end of the day if its in ur system its ur responsibility

If on the VERY small chance it is a contaminated product he knew nothing about then he ought to be banging the door down of his supplier and bring the dude to court at the very least etc etc

The fights off because they don't want to see one of their fighters (Ortiz) ruined...the way it stands now they can put Ortiz in with a lesser opponent which keeps him viable, while also rebuilding Berto's reputation once again making him viable, and come out the better for it. Very Top Rankish type move by GBP, as you can see the Ortiz fans are happy as **** about these developments so don't expect him or his camp to show any fighting pride and demand the Berto fight.
