see how they over rate their importance here lolol i didnt start the thread just commenting on it and no i dont love to talk about you bitches but do love the way you all cry like little girls and get offended easily another trait of low self esteem.. go over rate rooney sorry ass it might make you feel better :hat
I agree. :good As were Lloyd Honeyghan, John Stracey, Dennis Andries, John Contee etc. etc. the list goes on. All world Champions and very underrated by the boxing world at the time. I really don't get this anti British hate form alot of Poles.:conf
I guess it works both ways... Poles constantly get ridiculed by Brits, and Poles do the same thing in return. Constantly accusing eachother of having "glass jaws", having poor fighters, no real champions etc. Don't know who started this rivalry, but I think it just grew that way. About the thread... Brits certainly tend to (realy) overhype their fighters, and Poles do too but not as extreme.
TBH who doesn't hype their fighters and what's wrong with hyping anyway? The hype and expectation for Ademek v Klitchko was just as big as the hype and expectation for Haye V a K bro.
we brits back our own. More US overrated fighters than anywhere else in the world. Remember jeff lacy
Such a shame we had the crash.....could have resurecred some threads to prove how much bull**** you are spewing. My 'clalzaghe will annihilate jeff lacy' thread would be epic for some laughs
Nonsense. Hatton didn't belong at the top? Yet beat Tsyzu. In fact everyone was saying on here that he would be destroyed inside 2 or 3 rounds by Kostya then revisionist history comes in and makes out that the loser of the fight was shot. He could not cut it with PBF and Manny. Oh ****, how many can? By the Manny fight he was past it, and has himself to blame for his lifestyle. He was not out of his depth at the highest level, just out of his depth against ATG talents who are shoo ins for the HOF. Calzaghe was called a bum and a Euro hype job until he battered Lacy. Even then the revisionists came in to say he had no chance against Hopkins etc. British fans do sometimes overhype fighters and they do get carried away, but part of that is also a reaction to the fact that for many years and even now, world class fighters are not given their credit by American fight fans purely because they haven't heard of them. Froch is not top tier. But rather than hyped, for years lots of British fans said he was not good enough for world title level. He proved them wrong and was only outclassed against the best Super Middle in the world in Ward. Check the polls before the fight from the Brit forum, the vast majority picked Ward to win and many are confident of Bute winning in their upcoming fight. Khan was also derided by numerous British fans and totally written off after the Prescott fight. But he is clearly world class and yet as with most world level fighters flawed and not the total package. Danny Jacobs was hyped, Coddrington was hyped, and a couple of Polish fighters have been getting plenty of hype recently too. Szpilka and Proksa being prime examples. It is far more common to see a good fighter like Darren Barker dismissed as a "euro bum" by some ignorant American fan who has never seen him fight than it is for a British fan to proclaim a good fighter as the best in the world. When a guy puts a good run together, yes people get excited. Hence Price and hence some over the top excitement about our amateur Super Heavy, Anthony Joshua. But you wont see many Brits claiming Groves or Degale are the next king of the Super Middles even though they are good fighters. Or that Bellew or Cleverly are the best Light Heavies, even though again they are better than I'd imagine most American fans would give them credit for.
Nearly everyone in the thread disagrees with you. I notice you avoided mentioning a certain Mr. Haye. I'm not going to get in to a debate about Hatton. The ease with which May/Pac disposed of him speaks to the fact that he's a hyped up B-level fighter. If you belong at the top of the sport, you don't have virtually back to back bouts where you aren't even remotely competitive. And when will you people learn that...wait for it...no one gives a single **** about Jeff Lacy. The ONLY people that have mentioned his name in nearly a decade are from britain. Look around. Is that really all there is to boast for Calzaghe? Jeff ****in' Lacy? Brits are the most hyped fighters. Period. You guys get out of hand and if you can admit it, that's fine. It's people like you who are making the others look bad.
Do you realize how much ****ing hype there would be if someone who showed as much potential as Broner was british? My god. I don't even want to think about it. 1 out of every 5 threads on the front page of the general forum would be about how Broner is the future P4P king.
So what? I am an objective fan of boxing. I see some very good things in Price and some issues for concern and recognise he is just a promising prospect. As do the majority of proper UK boxing fans as opposed to casual sports fans who like to watch a fight. You only have to look at the juvenile Pac vs PBF crap on this forum to see how few proper boxing fans post on the boards, just obsessive fanboys and haters. Haye was dreadful against Wlad. But he got some hype for a good reason. I touted him from his amateur days as he is fast and hits hard. His chin was a worry, but he proved himself a world class fighter. At Cruiserweight he did everything you could have asked him to do (bar stay on and fight Cunningham in a poorly paid bout that nobody cared about) and then he moved up to much American derision on here. I remember numerous posters saying he would be starched the moment he faced a top 50 heavyweight. Then it changed to top 20. Then top 10. In the end he did fine until the appalling Wlad performance. But he never got starched. The Valuev fight he genuinely broke his hand, it is on record and X rays etc to prove it. The Wlad excuse was a disgusting embarrassment. But I am confident he will do a better job on Chisora than Vitali did. Time will tell. He was competitive with PBF. He was losing comfortably, but a B level fighter? What does that make Gatti then? Or Corrales? Because PBF dominated both of them throughout every round they fought far more than Hatton until the finish. Are they C Level fighters? Pac obliterated him yes. As I said he was clearly past his prime and that is partly his own fault for his lifestyle and partly his old promoters fault for having him make money fighting also rans for years. He was not elite. He was world champion and able to beat the vast majority of world champions or contenders at the 140 division. No bona fide World Champion is called a B rate fighter by anyone other than a biased, myopic "fan" who shows a poor understanding of the sport. Typical. I'm giving you an example of a fighter who WAS hyped by the Americans. I was here before he fought Calzaghe. Every thread was about how Calzaghe would be destroyed. You want another example? Pick any of the others I gave you, or look at how hyped Pavlik was. A flat footed, predictable fighter with good heart and power. He was being picked on here to beat Calzaghe, Kessler etc etc. American sports fans (not the proper boxing fans) disregard European and especially British fighters. It is why back on the old Seconds Out boards everyone was picking Tua to KO Lewis. It is why guys like you throw around terms like "B rate" for multiple world champions. Yeah of course, it's totally objective people like me making others look bad. Not guys like you with ludicrous sweeping statements backed up by nothing. As I said go and look at polls on fights like Ward vs Froch and explain why all the hype does not appear to be reflected by the majority of UK fans. On second thoughts just keeping patting yourself on the back for a ****, biased thread that offers no evidence at all. I wonder when the last time you ever cheered on a British fighter was? Because this thread reeks of a xenophobic bias. I don't have an issue with any nations fighters or feel the need to disparage or play down genuine achievements in the sport. Apparently that makes me "look bad".
